UK GAS-Prices mostly up as maintenance in Norway curbs supplies
Thu, 24th May 2018 10:13
May 24 (Reuters) - British wholesale gas prices were mostly higher on Thursday morning as additional maintenance at Norway's gas export facilities created a supply shortage.
* Within-day contract was up 2.05 pence at 59.55 pence/therm at 0907 GMT
* "Within-day prices are up as Langeled (pipeline) flows have dropped to zero due to the maintenance at Kollsnes and Troll. Vesterled (pipeline) should be back tomorrow hopefully," said a UK gas trader.
* Gas supply from Norway to Britain dropped to 23 million cubic metres per day, 66 mcm lower than Wednesday, as the Troll field, Norway's largest, and the Kollsnes gas processing plant undergo maintenance.
* As a result, the Langeled pipeline is fully shut, joining Vesterled which was also out of service on Thursday. The only pipeline delivering gas to Britain is FLAGS at the moment.
