Gas to the West is a major energy infrastructure project to extend natural gas to approximately 40,000 homes and businesses in the West of Northern Ireland. This significant gas network extension will bring the very considerable benefits of natural gas to the towns of Coalisland, Cookstown, Derrylin, Dungannon, Enniskillen, Magherafelt, Omagh and Strabane.
As a major infrastructure project, Gas to the West will require a diverse, robust supply chain. SGN Natural Gas hope to develop relationships with a network of local suppliers who can provide quality goods, works and services across Northern Ireland. The high pressure infrastructure will be constructed over the next few years, with the above towns’ distribution infrastructure being developed over the next forty years. ........................................................
Considering Ireland has no gas storage at all Infa will be instrumental in helping to meet the expected increase in demand. It will become an essential solution to the security of supply problem for the island given that Belfast power station just down the road is being constructed too....
