This research evaluates the potential effects for consumers in both Ireland and the UK of two new natural gas projects. The first project is an Irish Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) facility to import gas, such as the Shannon LNG facility in Co. Kerry; the second project is an Irish natural gas facility to store gas for later consumption, such as the Islandmagee Underground Gas Storage facility in Northern Ireland.

Overall, this research highlights how LNG and gas storage facilities represent
complementary investments that enhance supply security and market
competitiveness to the benefit of Irish consumers.
We consider the expected economic benefits of Irish LNG and gas storage
infrastructures for consumers in both Ireland and the UK. Based on seasonal
fluctuations of gas demand and prices, we assess the annual expected cost
reduction for consumers and its sensitivity to varying market conditions.
This research is of interest when considering consumers’ benefits of EU energy
policies and legislation goals. Furthermore, it is of interest to decision- and policy-
makers when designing and evaluating new developments in energy
infrastructure. This research is also relevant when assessing the speculative
function offered by LNG and gas storage facilities and has implications when
considering power systems highly reliant on variable renewable energy sources.

"In line with the Programme for Government and the Government’s Energy Policy Paper, my Department is carrying out, in conjunction with the Commission for Regulation of Utilities, Gas Networks Ireland and EirGrid, a study on Ireland’s resilience to a long term gas disruption, which includes the possible need for gas storage and LNG. This study will inform the formulation of future policy measures to maintain the resilience of Ireland’s gas and electricity supply".

No matter how many Twitter accounts these nimby's set up it changes nothing - whether they like it or not this facility is getting built and I personally will look forward to wiping the smile off their smug faces LOL. They had their chance years ago to voice their objections but didn't and now the desparate attempts by some to scaremonger as even they can see that Infa is on the cusp of a breakthrough with regards commercialisation and construction. At least the bod of Infa have remained professional in their conduct which is more than can be said for certain individuals! It's pretty rich of Mr Donnelly to praise that a certain DUP councillor Paul Reid has confirmed that he is objecting to the current application yet Arlene Foster publically supports this vital infrastructure project. Well that's democracy for you but those who ignore the noise of the ramblings of these nimby's will soon see that they were right to do so. Traders are unable to take full advantage of the wide winter-summer spread because several factors have combined this winter season to create a perfect storm in the European natural gas markets one of them being....limited available storage capacity as most of it is booked out amid declining overall capacity.
Europe’s total storage capacity has declined by more than 4 percent since 2016, according to data from gas industry trade association Gas Infrastructure Europe, cited by Bloomberg.
As a result, higher-than-usual gas stocks in European storage and almost fully booked storage space have been preventing natural gas traders from profiting from the most profitable price differential between winter and summer gas futures contracts in years.

Almost fully booked storage hey...well no wonder Infa has generated so much interest from offtakers and equity partners #justsaying

I agree Billb - the nature and tone of some of the persistent posters on here is nothing short of disgraceful imo. Some of them were in full flow earlier today predicting a drop to 0.10 immediately after the AGM yet the SP kept gradually rising during the day. Nice try but your efforts didn't work...should be another blue day tomorrow we may get a surprise with an offtake agreement earlier than anticipated....

We don't need or want to FTB it's quite clear your just after an argument here regardless of what point is made if it doesn't suit your agenda! Every well researched poster knows the risks here while we wait for unanswered questions to be answered which is why the SP is half of where it was a couple of weeks ago! So either buy more now and assume the risks here like all of us or be prepared to be locked out if the offtaker or diamond news lands. As for dilution what will be will be but one thing's for certain Vast will survive and come through all the recent uncertainty. I've just had a look for teacup64 and it's as if he no longer exists....usually if they put on temporary ban on someone's account that person can't post but you can still see their history.
