Interesting Sunday Times article on Blackstone who are on a bit of a buying spree especially in content provision and the transition to renewable. LVCG has had good links with the Blackstone empire.

Blackstone, the American private equity leviathan that has developed a distinct view on how the world will emerge from the pandemic and embarked on an epic investment drive to bet on that thesis. In the three months to the end of June, the New York-based company invested, or committed to invest, an astonishing $52 billion (£37.4 billion) in companies ranging from green energy development to film production, home-building and life sciences.

Beyond e-commerce and entertainment, the company is funnelling cash into companies playing, in one way or another, the transition from fossil fuels to renewable sources. Last month it snatched Sphera, a maker of software that helps companies track their environmental and social compliance.

Lockdowns are unlikely to be needed again, government scientific advisers have said, as official figures showed a clear fall in coronavirus cases.

What a great job the LVCG team have done with the city of Cape Town attracting this investment in the infrastructure for the formula e circuit.

Additionally, as part of Cape Town E-Prix, Formula E will host a Climate Change Summit by the World Bank.

The event will also include local communities and schools to educate them about electric cars, how they can contribute to a sustainable future of mobility, and the impact of inner-city air pollution.

There’s a massive turnaround story here and good progress is being made on its delivery IMO

Since the takeover of the new businesses last December, LVCG have already taken more in revenue from the new divisions than it paid DC in consideration (the vast majority which was done in share at 10p). That included existing contracts for the cycling (£1 million recurring annual revenue and all the costs paid by the sponsors) and the volvo ocean race stopover. But that procurement included the promise of securing a formula e race in Cape Town and an efest to go with it.

Since then they have done a deal with messe frankfurt and released an outline heads of terms to deliver the efest.

Delivered an agreement for 5 years with a 5 year extension to host formula e in Cape Town.

Made significant progress on the planning for the efest golf tournament and also on the concept of the efest along with a climate change conference and a pop concert.

Made further links to the biggest boy band on the planet (you know the ones that sponsor Formula E and are in involved in start art)

So in less than 8 months, having laid out a plan, they have made some pretty solid progress to actually delivering it.

Oh and let’s not forget that DC seems well on his way to getting the efest concept adopted by other host cities on the formula e circuit. He seems pretty instraumental in helping formala e executives and Seoul gain a spot on the calendar next year too.

Riosurfer, I didn’t mention Naples Zoo as I was only highlighting those events taking place in July and August (i.e. near term revenue).

Naples Zoo have Supersize from November 2021 to April 2022, and Singapore Zoo have Brickosaurs from 5th November 2021 to 2nd May 2022. Both of those are the biggest sets that LVCG have and will command a good monthly revenue during the winter period.

The cycling entry fees will also open in October this year (£1 million revenue) and in Feb 2022 there will be all the e-fest and formula e events, again bringing revenue into the company during a period that has previously been quiet

Interesting fact. LVCG has received more revenue from the new divisions than it paid DC in consideration. And remember that it paid the vast majority of that consideration in shares at 10p. And that’s also before the new divisions really get going with the e-fest next year etc.
