I worked hard and saved as much as possible until I hit 50, I then started my own small business and invested my hard earned over the years, from the age of 30. When I hit 55 I shut my business and went back to corporate (MD in a start up) worked for 5 more years and then retired at 60. So I worked hard but from the age of 50 on my terms and continued to save and investing. My lads left the nest when I hit 45, paid my mortgage off years ago with savings. So I have a reasonable pension pot, savings and investments that I live off, currently 63, retired, healthy and chilled. I realised at an early age 40 ish that once I was financially secure I would do things on my terms. It’s about choices, I have made some very bad investments and some good ones. I have held SAR for 10 yrs plus that I hope will also support my lifestyle.
