I had an ISA worth £750k in Dec 2019 thanks to GGP (I started with a £20K investment in 2014, after inheriting some money from my late dear Grandfather) but stupidly held on (and have lost over £600k of that between then and now in the process! 😥)

Still 'we own the farm' now over there (or will do come 1/10) and will become a producer so just hoping I see some of that profit return, although even if it does I'm sure Rachael 'Thieves' our current Chancellor will be taking a huge chunk of it in tax if the rumours of a '£100k Tax Free Cap' prove true!

Fingers crossed it all comes good here (and soon) as I really don't want to be having to sell any of my holding (in either GGP or SAR) at these levels!

How do these 'Share Buy Backs' work?

Does that mean we can be forced to sell our shares back to the company, even if we don't wish to?

I remember my parents, when I was much younger, once complaining that they had invested in a company for years only to find that the company had decided to buy their shares back when the price was low.

(Never experienced one, so apologies if being dumb!?)

current holding (2m) at ath (36p) = £740k

holding after 50:1 consolidation (40,000) at fortescue's current sp (if we ever get there that is!) of £8.34 (a$16.33) as of today = £333,600

that's a difference of £406.400 down!!! (admittedly previous 'les s than a third of its value' was incorrect but still 54% less)

so now tell me how a 50:1 consolidation has no effect on the value of my holding!!??

hopefully there won't be a consolidation as you say, but just for the record i certainly see one coming (together with another share issue to let sd's aussie ii mates in on the cheap).

as some have already said, he is only interested in his own ambitions and we pis are nothing but a minor irritant!

this share has certainly been a learning curve but it's **** or bust for me now! we are nothing but passengers.

i posted the other day about shanta gold investors being shafted after the company was taken over on the cheap (the 'voting' process was a total **** show - 100% intentionally imo to get it through) just as the profits were about to flow from their singida mine and how i wouldn't be surprised if something similar happened before havieron goes 'live'.

A 1:50 consolidation on my own current holding would value it at less than a third of it's value at the previous ATH sp even IF we were priced at Fortescue's current sp of A$16.66!! 😢

My brother was pleading with me to sell (as I'd have been set for life at that point) but I just wanted to make sure that he was financially ok too (as his stressful job is doing to him what mine used to do to me before giving it up to care for our late father!).

Anyway it is what it is, and what will be will be!

It's always been a 'sh*t or bust' play for me but I just hope that having it seems 'backed a winner' over a decade ago I don't have to sell up before I can recoup just some of the £600k odd of profit I've lost since 2020!

I have taken full responsibility for ALL of my investment decisions (of which there have been many!) and am certainly not a 'bed wetter' (having 'doubled down' on a large 'real money' loss when Newmont walked away from EG and a long time before you were probably even invested!) so know the risks.

Just getting a bit tired of Day consistently shafting us LTH's in order to increase the number of his ii mates on the share register!)

I would also not be surprised at all (just for the record) if we aren't 'gobbled up' at some point in the future by the likes of Wyloo or Fortescue (and with PIs once again getting short changed yet again!!)

However, time will tell!

Average of 1.1p, but with my current financial circumstances (which will no doubt worsen after the Oct Budget!) I am at risk of having to sell some of my holding within the next 6 months or so (or sell our family home of 65 years, as it's becoming too expensive to run! 😟)

I'm pinning my hopes now on my SAR holding, as this is a long way off from getting anywhere near the previous ATH sp in my honest opinion and I'm going to be gutted if I have to sell up before we get there!)

What is for certain is that once these two holdings have played out however they do I'm done for good with the absolute sh*t show that is AIM!!!!
