Employment growth is tepid because many people will never return to the workforce and others have got used to staying at home...With demand for key workers outstripping supply, wages will be bid up; then cost push will become demand pull as consumers wade in on white goods, cars, etc in fear of having to pay a much higher price later.

The US is still in an underlying recession which has so far lasted 2 years. Powell cannot use interest rates to kill inflation because he would tank a tentative economy as a result. Either way we could be looking at a 1929 type crash and global stagflation, but...

All the major economies will be funding green projects to try and kickstart the economy and satisfy their green critics at the same time...

So...copper, lithium, cobalt, nickel, even silver, you aint seen nothing yet...

Copper is absolutely flying...up 4.5% in just 20 hours...

How much longer dare the majors hold back from making a bid...

If copper heads towards $5 dollar again surely somebody is going to panic and make a bid...

Remember, in Alpala alone we have the biggest their one copper project not owned by a major...

And remember the global mining industry only has 9 years of gold left in the ground and it takes years to build out a producing mine as we know on here...

In less than six months Alpala will be 'oven ready' so, there are only three possible scenarios in my view:

1 BHP (probably) JVs Cascabel, buying out Cornerstone's stake in the process)

2 BHP (probably, but possibly AN Other) buys Cascabel lock stock and barrel

3 One of a number of possible suitors makes an initial bid for SOLG which creates an auction with an outcome between £1/2

Options 1 and 2 allow SOLG to remain independent and develop the 'string of pearls' of the other projects, including a possible IPO for Green Rock Resources (Porvenir).

Either of them would in my view immediately at least double the SP into the 50/55 range at least for the time being...after all look what happened to GGP with Havieron....

Why is BHP the favourite? Not for the reasons some have been trumpeting on here, but because as well as having a strategic shareholding and, presumably a first option on Newcrest's shares at the right price (my guess is such a conversation took place when Newcrest said it was considering its options for its SOLG holding and concluded they would keep it as a 'strategic investment'. Surely Newcrest would have been among those voting Moller out in December?

But also because BHP has just suffered a very public humiliation in their bid for Noront. Surely the Board will want a quick big win soon...?

Colonel you quite correctly called attention to the 'quiet' period between Dec 17 and Monday but we still did 2.3m on New Year's Eve up to 29p with 32p bids hanging around....presumably year end book closing, but people were prepared to pay up...

Can you tell us what's happening on L2 please...?

This is astonishing...one hour into trading and only 4,000 shares traded...indeed zero since 18 seconds into the day...

Only 435k traded yesterday....another multi year low...

Seems like the world is waiting....for a RNS?...or a bid...? Who knows...

Meanwhile the copper price is trying to bust 3 month resistance at c$4.51...

Last year the January Board was before 19th but circumstances were different...

And why still no CFO..Ingo is acting...if there is no move to formalise him or replace him, does that mean the Board are expecting an approach? SOLG have been without a CFO for 14 months now and OK it made sense to wait for a CEO to give their approval, but wouldn't they have one or two lined up in the background...?

Whether or not its a false rumour, it would make sense to have meaningful drill news today with Darryl adding his positive spin...

Or do we simply assume this is drifting inexorably towards the first bid...?

Oh and BTW...BHP doesn't feature in Blackrock's top 150 holdings...but Freeport and Newmont do...so why risk passing off those two when they might well have an interest in Solgold...

I take it Colonel that you are posting an opinion about Blackrock, not a fact...

In which case I choose to disagree...I frankly cannot see why the biggest fund manager inn the world would fiddle about the edges for months and months on behalf of BHP...

If they have that power and time their transactions around key news, why wouldn't they trade meaningful sums to enhance the returns...

Citi is employed or bid defence...Blackrock is a fund manager...if it came out that they were doing as you say in such minimal amounts for one company in which they have a tiny percentage holding they would lose all credibility...

And thats an opinion...

They clearly have ambitions and China has a huge hunger for copper...as well as trying to dominate global markets for strategic and/or rare earth minerals...
