So the possibility is that AUO are using old raw materials for the current panel production. In the article below provided by NW there are continuous upgrades to panels. It is an opportunity to use cadmium film before the Rohas deadline. But it does not mean cfqd film will not appear in panels for future iterations for these models. Therefore the Nano gearing up of staff and production in conjunction with Wah Hong increasing capacity will be to replace existing AUO raw materials in advance of requirements. Hence the comment from ME likely to appear in 2018. However we are interested in the point of sale ie the dots not the panel.

My only comment is in the article they refer to cf quantum dots, the second reference is to the quantum dot wide colour gamut ie they are referring to the gamut not the dot per se. Therefore it is potentially still unclear. Marketing/sales do not always know or have access to technical data however this monitor project did start nearly 2 years ago so may have kicked off with cadmium dots. I have asked AUO what they have included in the panel as it is inclusive when delivered to Acer and ASUS. Given the age of the project it can be either though one would have thought they would have adopted the 2nd generation cfqd film that was announced at Touch Taiwan. Either way I am not depressed as we know Nano was recruiting and production was gearing up from comments made. I can understand the desire for Nanos products to be used but there are two substantial markets on the doorstep and the little matter of lights and bioscience to develop.

Not knowing too much about BoE this helps and it is understandable why KDX (a film maker) is courting BoE. They are owned by the Chinese Govt. about to spend US15bn expanding panel production. One of the plants is to build 65 to 75 inch 4K and8k TVs. The Chinese are supporters of cad free. Interesting they are on Nanos prospect list so prototypes must have been attempted. Nanosys are trying to get away from the term cad free which suggests their QDs are still not fully cad free but Rohas compliant which still permits cadmium albeit a smaller quantity.

Thought BOE was a panel maker and they are listed on Nanos client prospects but do not know enough about them. Ezio was another panel that had wide colour gamut cannot guarantee my Apple dictionary will change text again.

From the attachment below the Philips spec was more fully described the following is a quote; wide colour gamut covering 97.6% DCI-P3. We spoke to the product manager who confirmed that 32-zone edge-lit local dimming is used to support the HDR here. The wide colour gamut is achieved through a combination of Philips Wide Color Gamut backlighting (where chemicals are used to enhance the LED backlight) and Quantum Dot film coating. Now how many qd providers provide a film, the only one I know that has developed film is Wah Hong. Does anyone have an alternative film provider.

Still have not read all in detail and the commentary is not consistent throughout. For example we know the 65inch screens have QDs but it is not stated. What is interesting there are more panels below that have Wide cloud gamut and DCI-P3 in the high 90s. Attached is the updated AUO panel production for 2018 dated 13/5/18. Have not read it fully myself yet but confirms 27� is in mass production. Wonder was mass means these guys deal in big numbers. I suppose it is too early to link the Wah Hong optical film expansion (although they referred to Nanaco) to a new microLED product. Whatever is going down the expansion would not be an insignificant decision. Anything to do with the auto industry will change the scope a little.
