A disappointing day to be followed by another disappointing day tomorrow, possibly, looking at the US close equivalent of 342.

Where have all the Looney army gone today.
No £4 by Q3 or £5 by Christmas posts today.

A net 4% gain in this totally illogical market is a master stroke in my opinion. Well done again mate.

I am scratching my head over the results and the market reaction, possibly with more downside to come tomorrow looking at the US close.

I find it difficult to understand how today's results were met with today's SP drop with maybe more to come tomorrow, as with the days following RDS results.

Your positive, near evangelistic, posts regarding BP are, in my opinion, on the right track. Predicting SP targets by specific dates is near on impossible as there are so many unknowns but your message and sentiment regarding the company I fully agree with.

SP reaction to the results way overblown and a certain recovery and push higher in the short term is on the cards.

I have been as guilty as the next poster with my impatience with BP in the past but todays results are a stepping stone towards a great 2022 in my opinion.

Debt reduced from £40 to £32 billion in 12 months, £3 billions buybacks by Q4, dividend growing slightly each quarter, Brent back at $85 and rising. Roll on 2022

Please don't be silly now. I am referring to creative accounting where all required regulations are adhered to but BP accountants would capitalises on loopholes in the accounting standards due to the current climate of political sensitivities around climate concerns.

Come on mate, you are better than that, I thought.

If Q3 results are manipulated to look less than impressive and the SP dips, as with RDS, I will not be too bothered.

We are in the midst of a bunch of hypocritical politicians and ruling class offspring activists meeting on a jolly up in Glasgow looking for targets. BP announcing mega, best ever profits will put them if the cross hairs of the fossil fuel penalty tax lobby.

I hope you are doing well as well EUA investment. I have been to listening to Radio 4's Cop reporting. Carbon / fossil fuel penalty taxes for Oilers was mentioned too many times for comfort, so 'blockbuster' results on Tuesday could play into hands of those who want to milk and destroy.

I can see the headlines now " While COP28 tries to save the planet BP profits soar. Shareholders share billions in dividends." " Tax the polluters NOW "

The good news is Looney must be aware of this.

Exxon’s chairman and CEO Darren Woods said in a statement.

“Free cash flow more than covered the dividend and $4 billion of additional debt reduction. With the progress made in restoring the strength of our balance sheet, this week we announced a dividend increase maintaining 39 consecutive years of annual dividend growth,” Woods noted.

The difference maybe ? 39 consecutive years of annual dividend growth
