My opinion is that we need to be near to Q4 results for £4.00 to be a possibility but who knows? If oil continues to rise together with an end of year rally, maybe we will all have a happy Christmas.

Either way Q4 is only 12 weeks away. Personally, i'm not too focused on short term targets. £4.00+, I believe, will come sooner or later and with a dividend payment every 13 weeks, I am content, to hold and wait.

Well deduced mate!! I think you are right. BP ADR 10/11 ex-dividend day. Still bad form for Hargreaves Lansdown, especially making me look like a doofus !!

Thank you for that correction and clarification. Tinker, you are also right in that Hargreaves Lansdown, where I obtained the Ex dividend date 10th November from before posting, have incorrectly published that date.

I would of expected HL to have the right information.

I know you guys and girls know tomorrow is ex dividend day.

What are the chances of a net gain with today's, hopeful, SP rise to tomorrow's, possible ex dividend dip

With Brent tortoising upwards ( not sure that was a word...but it is now ) any net gain by close tomorrow will be a positive sign and with the dividend out the way, then the Cop show disbanded, I would hope to see a slow, un - dramatic, boring climb from there to Q4 and that would be fine for me. Subject to any unforeseen circumstances, business as usual should be good for the build up to Q4.

That said, I have lowered my short term expectations and moved my SP target of £4.00 to Q1.

Is a net SP gain likely by close of business tomorrow ?

Markets flat and drifting. No good ( or bad ) news around. I don't expect any real progress apart from maybe a pre / post divi gain / drop, until the end of the year until Q4 reporting.

Brent is currently down 3.5% so it should make it easier to expect OPEC+ to stick to their policy at tomorrow's meeting and not turn on any taps to placate Biden or the liberal western government's plea to do so.

To hear Biden beg Opec to turn on the fossil fuel taps " to help the American working class " while attempting to destroy the oil industry is, in opinion, chickens coming home to roost. Demonise Oiler and stop them from drilling for oil then beg them for more supply.

You couldn't make it up.

Good evening mate. Thanks for your posts. I do not understand the personal attacks. Nothing out of place in your posts in my opinion.

Disappointed with the drop in the SP and currently l am in the red, as only reinvested recently, but its only a figure unless the loss is crystallised.

The next 12 months will be interesting but I am now planning to hold and monitor during the transition up to 2025.

If Looney gets this right, £5 could look a bargain price by 2025.

BP in UK

if I take a country like the United Kingdom, what other company can take natural gas, build a power station, capture the carbon, take it offshore, store it underground. What other company can take and build offshore wind, build a hydrogen facility on the back of it, take that electricity and put it into the largest charging network in Britain at the same time sign a deal with Daimler to explore the potential for hydrogen trucking infrastructure in the UK, sign a deal in Aberdeen to look at hydrogen for public transport, and at the same time, have a trading business that can help customers hedge and plan and have predictable and reliable sources of energy.

BP in India Argentina & Norway

We hope to be providing between 15% and 20% of India's natural gas over the next several years, something that's massively important to that country's transition, and at the same time, opening our first Jio-bp station. So partnerships are something that we love. We have a great relationship and track record in them: PAE in Argentina; Aker BP in Norway.

we need to talk about the number of electrons sold. And I think we felt we sold 40 gigawatt hours of electricity or electrons in the third quarter. So that's the key. We're seeing this happen right around the world. I think it's really, really encouraging in China. As I said, we've opened our 100th site.

Weopened our 100th site in China in EV charging in the quarter. We're up eightfold year-on-year in terms of the number of charge points in China. And I would just let you know that China took 11 years to go to five percent of EVs in the marketplace and it took seven months to go from five to 10

HL's comment are a lazy response to the results . I had the time to study the results, watch the webcast and most importantly read through the Q and A transcript of the institutional analysts questioning of Looney and the board.

All reassures me, and the analysts from all the big main financial institutions ( HL not there ! )it seemed, that the company is on track to delivery next year and beyond.

Patience and more time than we would like is needed with this investment.

Might be worth taking a read of, at least, the Q&A transcript.

(Sharecast News) - Analysts at RBC Capital kept their recommendation for shares of BP at 'sector perform' following the oil major's latest update.

In their opinion, the negative share price reaction was largely due to the company's decision to slow-down its share buybacks "buyback, which suggests a cau?ous approach in the face of an improving macro environment."

Nevertheless, despite the impossibility of forecasting certain factors, such as working capital, they continued to expect underlying improvement in BP's free cash flow and hence a higher buyback in 2022.

RBC also stood by its 425.0p target price on BP
