By 2027, Macquarie expects iron ore pellet demand will outstrip supply by as much as 43Mt.

“We suspect such large gaps will be closed via demand destruction given the challenges in bringing on new supply,” Macquarie analysts wrote.

“For example, a sustained period of elevated pellet premiums could incentivise blast furnaces to substitute pellets for other products (lump, sinter, scrap where possible) freeing up material for DRI producers.”

We all know AD Ports signed a Head of Terms for a New Mole Port in Pointe Noire.

What is interesting though is that AD Ports secured a $2bn corporate facility just a matter of days before the President of Republic of Congo, Denis Sassou Nguesso and AD Ports Group Managing Director and CEO, Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi met in Congo-Brazzaville to discuss future cooperation on the development of the ‘New Mole Port’.

Coincidences? I think not.

I emailed Martin Fewings, investor relations at Glencore earlier in the week to ask about Zanaga/Jumelles and potential tie ups with the Saudis.

His response was a brush off:

“ We sold our stake in Zanaga to ZIOC in late November 2022. ZIOC now owns 100% of the project.”

He’s not come back to my follow up that Glencore is now the biggest shareholder of ZIOC and has tagged on marketing rights.

Make of it what you will, but I think he can’t/won’t speak about it and wanted to throw me off the scent.

With the BRICS conference happening the 1st week of June there’s not long left for people to take a position. Ports sign off will send this flying!!

It’s coming up to 6 months from when Glencore ceded control to Zanaga, news is all around us about the need for green steel.

Just patiently waiting now for news from Zanaga re their next steps.

Massive news is round the corner!!

Seems a no brainer to me. Use $6bn out of an ever decreasing currency and use it to buy assets worth many, many times that. A massive win win for the Saudis.
