Its not a terrible idea to be honest. Either the deal goes through and you get 52p per share or it doesn't and you lower your average.

The only down side would be if you can't get the cash alternative then your shares will be sold for you if your broker does not deal in Bally.

Well this would be an expensive lesson in gambling. Would have had better return taking my money down to the casino, but that is the thing with investing you win some and lose some. You just hope your wins outstrip your losses. If anyone is all in on one share I feel for you but its not something that I've ever known anyone to advise to just put it all in one share. As I get older I start to enjoy the boring mundanity of funds.

Best not to watch it day to day. Check in once a week to see the general direction.

Obviously depends on whether you are an investor or a trader. If you are trading then hour by hour and stay away from high rise windows.

I agree there is risk in this share but shares are by their very nature risky. I invested in a solid asset in Legal and General (really boring blue chip high dividend company) took years to sell it at a profit.

Here the issue is debt but it is likely that the cost of debt is going to come down in the future which is probably what is helping the share price tick up at the moment. The market is betting on lower interest rates in the future not huge drops but gradual decreases which will mean refinancing at better rates. On top of this if the company can cut costs it can start to repay some of that debt quicker.

I doubt we will see any dividends in this company in the near future but better financing and stronger cost controls will help this to tick up slowly over the next 12 months. Betting on a finishing price is a mugs game but I think we have seen the bottom here unless the company can't refinance its debt.

It looks like it is regaining some of the losses and if it can start to turn a few years of profits then maybe people can start to recover some money.

This is the last share I hold as the risk v reward on individual shares rarely beats the market and I am now more invested in global funds. So will hold this till the end or until it recovers. When they say the house always win's I think Evoke is the exception that breaks that rule, but so long as the house keeps standing its always got that chance to recover its losses.

To be honest back in the day I would have been more aware of the final results date and took that more into consideration.

Given the recent increase in SP I was wondering whether to sell and if I had been a bit more on the ball and not so passive, I might have sold into the speculation and then bought again on the fact.

I would have thought that the fall in revenue would have been priced in given the sale of their brand in Russia. Maybe people are profit taking as there has been a rise here recently and it could be that those taking a profit are doing so because they are not getting the increase in profits paid in dividends, instead it is more share buy backs.

I always worry about share buy backs, if a company has excess money and can't think of how to make a profit out of it, a share buy back seems like a lack of ideas. Even investing excess money in another company would be a better growth strategy than buying your own shares.

Or just give the money to shareholders.

Also they won't all have shorted when the price was at its lowest, some will have shorted at a higher price so this increase will cut their profit rather than tip them into a loss.

So there will be a range of shorters out there and some will have more patience to see if this higher value holds or not.

I do find it a bit silly that the history of this stock has completely disappeared. Surely a name change is just that and they could have kept the previous board with all of the background to this share.

I think your view that the end is energy supply control is a valid view. For me I think Putin sees energy as a means to an end, not an end in itself.

For me he wants to unraval some of what the USSR lost. He had been dabbling around the edges for years pushing on countries were the EU and NATO have less influence or direct control.

Does he want to run Ukraine? Probably not.
Does he want a Ukraine ( and other former USSR countries) that is in his back pocket. I think most certainly yes.

He does not see NATO and the West as a non threatening part of the world, whether through arms or more likely the influence of democratic standards he does not want that influence crossing the boarder into Russia.

If he can hold NATO and democracy at arms length that secures his own power base at home and also gives that legacy to whoever he nominates to succeed him.

He may not have the title tzar, but he is more like a tzar than any other European leader.

To be fair shell may gain from the oil price but we are also invested in the pipeline nordstream 2, I think most reasonable people accept that there is going to be a move away from fossil fuels and that reliance on countries for key energy supplies who don't have our best interests at heart is not a good investment not matter how cheap their oil and gas is.

The EU has been funding the rebuilding of the Russian military for decades as they saw Russia as an annoying but not important global player.

They may regret paying for that cheap oil and gas when their money comes back to them in the form of tanks and planes.

We in the UK maybe less exposed to the threat but we are not immune.
