Surely there'd only be a ceasefire unless Putin gets something in return like Ukraine agreeing to stay out of NATO. What else would he be happy with?

In that case as soon as Putin takes Ukraine we should drop the sanctions. They're pointless since the West is hooked on Russian commodities and it will only hurt individuals than actually stop anything. The US/UK/EU need a better long term strategy which doesn't create unnecessary inflation just for the sake of political arse slapping. Putin 1, rest of the world 0.
