Matlot, give it a rest, you can have a laugh and wind people up, yes it is their money and their decision investing on this, but ultimately if stressing them out (yes they should not invest more than they can afford to lose) but try to be considerate.....
I do agree, however, although I am lucky as I am in with a loss I can afford this going to zero, others have possibly put into this a lot more. Does not help that trolls try to have a giggle. There are some posters who literally put their house on this (yes you could say it is their problem, their decision_ Yes I am talking about mental health some people are in here so deep by having the p taken out of them is not the right approach. I understand trolls are all over but (and I am talking for experience) being in a bad place and finding yourself so low could be a close call and even a poster saying something could push that person over the edge. .......
how little the bank's PR department is doing. Fortunately parliament is making headline news otherwise there could be a chance people would start pulling out the money out of the bank ..... Unless some positive news come out one way or another this would keep going south which would not do any favor to anyone....and as Q3 results are a month away the current status can not go on....sad
BOD Would come up with a good statement, unless that happens this could keep going south (however how much more can that be? Lets be honest current value is bonkers). If any positive news come up it would fly through. My current average (after selling a large chunk yesterday) is much higher thus not going to see that in a while but i can wait. Court ruling yesterday took the media attention away (majority) as such this is where the PR department for Metro should really get the skates together.
Dogger, not sure this is the best place to ask for support.....however fyi around 10 years ago due to some extremely bad investments I nearly lost everything, took a while to get back into "Normality" but got there in the end..... Try to be as rational as possible (easily said than done I know), there are people you can contact if you can not speak to your family etc. Step away from looking at the SP every 2mins, unless you are planning to sell immediately. Yes it is a paper loss but still sickening, try to look at the reasons you invested in the company to start with and if these principles are still there and you believe it would come up then more to keep away. Good luck.
we could go down to this levels. BOD have been shocking. I have now sold most of my holding (at a loss), keeping bit "just" in case, I did not want to spend another night worrying. I do feel for those who are way too deep on this to walk out and I hope BOD could provide some guidance tomorrow. Yes they do not care about daily changes etc but this went from a 40£ per share to£1.70 per share. Hope something would happen tomorrow morning. If BOD comes up with some ways to reassure the market, hopefully these will jump up otherwise looking at the sentiment around only way would be south. I'd expect more negative articles from the media which (and this is what worries me) could cause another Norther Rock (which was a solid bank till the media got involved and caused people queuing to withdraw money). Good luck
that is exactly my worry, the media have got hold of this (a few articles) and more. But thanks to the court ruling this is not being run as much (which is great) however there is a risk to cause a run for the money (for no reason as accounts would be protected up to x amount)
@Monkshood I do follow the board, believe me I would be more than happy for this to go higher. My main concerns here are the PR from the bank. When I meant on Northern Rock is primarily for people to withdraw money from their accounts. The whole thing is a poor PR and risks to cause a downtrend. If you seriously think this board can influence the SP you are disillusioned.
SJ I am not saying it would happen but the way the media is portraying this does not provide much inspiration. I am mainly surprised at the way BOD are doing, it i worrying more than anything. Look at the various articles, not one is positive, the bank went form 30£ to £2.24 in a matter of months. OK with saying this would be 4£ etc but some realism. I hope it would not go any further but the way it heading does not look good. Many have been sucked up on this and never thought I would see this level.
No so much for the drop (which is understandable ) but for the way the BOD are providing the information. and acting. Confidence in the bank (management) seems to have gone and something must be done sooner rather than later. Biggest worry is that news might spread in the high street and people would start doing a northern rock pulling the bank down. In one way the court announcement might take people's mind off this but gulp what a mess it has become.
@at 1970 Erm I am not claiming to be an expert (neither want to say I am one) . I just pointed out some views, on the share (though this was a discussion board? ) also if you look at the end of what I wrote, It shows anything but myself claiming to be an expert. . Anyway good luck and well done on the 200% profit!
So far so good, sold part yesterday, second batch today and now for the long term. I was not expecting this rise so quickly but all good, just got my target a few weeks earlier than predicted. Yes some might say I could have kept hold the whole lot and made more profit but wonder if the same people did that when the shares were at 450p. Key is for the resistance at 285, If that is broken by a few % it would keep going up, it has touched a few times and then being brought down… it could go higher if sentiment stays positive, until results and that would be a turning point. If metro do not show progress and also cut some of the high costs, it would struggle to keep momentum and head back south. . Long term would stay on it for a few years and if I lose the lot so be it. I have been accused to be a de-ramper or shorter (which I am neither) I just learnt (in the harsh way) to be as detached to the shares I buy….
@Monkshood can you read my post again? I Did say indeed there would be a chance as with all the negativity things could go badly wrong (liabilities are high and also running costs) and yes I did say I bough t and sold, (as soon as I said this could go down lower I was accused of being a shorter). I am looking into this in details and not going to say " this would be 350 In one week (presume people would be happy?). I understand many here have invested more than they can afford to lose and hope it would not happen. If some people have borrowed thinking of a quick return, but that is their problem. I am happy to buy in and out for a few % better than being 30% on paper loss having to repay it in the near future.
@@Auson slowly read my post again, maybe you could tell the same to those who bought at 5,6, 10, 20, 30£?? Lets work out a 5% on each day on average would take 20 days vs 100% which could take years? Or possibly would never materialize itself?
Sold part as I had already planned (was a day punt) I do not think this would raise much more today (would probably hoover around 265 -268) but I’d guess would increase over the next few days. Brexit does have some level of impact on this and as such next green days would be linked to it. Once a bit more confidence on this (ie more than one green day) this should go higher, all depends on how many would sell at around 286 where there seem to be a strong resistance. I have a further chuck to sell again for then keeping others in the long term (which could stay there for a few years and if it goes to zero so be it)
Sadly with no news this seems to be heading further south, sentiment is getting more negative even from those who seems to have invested. It is worrying that the bank have not actually said or done anything following the daily drops (not saying they have to get an RNS out!) but the PR department should really do something, unless this happens it looks only way is for this is to go south with only one outcome (sounds brutal but realistic)….. I got out last week back in Yesterday (small and short term punt) I do not think it would go lower than 248 short term but hoping for a quick bounce and one way or another would sell by end of today, guess it wold probably end at 256, would be nice (for long term investors ) to see two consequently blue days…. But that can only happen on positive news … (ps find it funny some people trying to ramp/deramp this, thinking they can manipulate the SP)……
I do actually apologise I did not mean it would be going on admin for sure (and I might have touched a few “nerves” there) however there is a risk and this is high with regards to Metro .
Running costs are high, they made some basic mistakes in the accounting department (and again good they are taking action). Also if something falls 80% in a short time, people can not put the whole blame on shorters (yes they might be one of many reasons but not the main one as I stated only way is to ban shorting as it did happen briefly in 2008). Obviously this can recover (and I do genuinely hope so) but it has to be pointed out this is very risky too and if anyone is hoping for a quick return they might be feeling quite disappointed, also if anyone is influenced in buying shares or selling them based upon on the “advice” on an anonymous board they should not invest in the first place but play poker (and if anyone bought these borrowing money well sorry that is pure stupidity…)
@Monkshood I am not saying it would go bust and I do apologize if I sounded as if I was saying it would. All I pointed out is that there is a risk and unfortunately due to the way the share price is behaving the risk is there..... from many responses I can only gather many are down on this big time and I genuinely hope it would bounce back I just gave my opinion guess unless someone says this would go to 8£ in no time, the poster risks of being classified as a shorter..... geez
I actually swear that I am not a shorter (and never have ) .... from the responses here looks like people are indeed on the nervous side. I would be delighted if this jumps even 5% from now (even more would be better) and I made it clear I am IN for the very short term , it has become way too risky.... if it gets pulled so be it hope people can afford to lose the amount they have invested......
Many here saying this would go to 5£ in no time and so on, are basing their figure out of thin air. I understand many might have invested more than they can afford to lose and are literally rooting without much of a substance. This has become a very risky share, there have been some major mistakes in the accounting department and also the running costs are not cheap either. Shorter are clearly on this one, as soon as there is any sign of revivals a large number of shares are “sold” keeping the value either down or retracing with large drops. I am on this as a small punt (this is in essence what it is a gamble), it could well be put into administration at any time (lets be clear no share falls 90% of its value on Rumor only) or put private (small investors would be the last to know but the first to lose out) and those saying the billionaire friends could help etc…why would they? They would only put money if they see a good opportunity of a return……
I hope this would recover but with everything happening and no news from the bank itself (positive ) it could well keep heading south Liabilities are high (1.8M customer’s accounts) and loan book still got some toxic ones which are not a good sign either...… This is a day trade’s dream, only way to stabilize the market is to ban short selling (like it did happen in 2008) but do not think this is an option as many of the current MP’s are actually members of the same companies who are often participating in short selling…..
I do hope it would go up soon, personally I would cash in (one way or another before the week end) got burned many times in the past…..Hope if this ends badly people can afford to lose the amount invested (I know I sound brutal as a first post but I have been on similar situation in the past and learnt it the harsh way).
