do not think Q3 would be bad, all seemed to point to improvements from Q2. Lets be honest any bad publicity would have been at the end of Q3 (late sept) . As long as the deposits are up, running costs are down (they could save on dog's biscuits ) etc it should be ok. Ultimately they are expanding in key locations with more branches etc (can not remember on the top of my head but another 7 before the end of the year). I am slightly surprised too on why shorters are not giving up unless they expect that any hint of bad news (even perceived) would push the SP down much further vs good news which would only push it so much higher..... possibly they "expect" the FCA report to be out sooner rather the later? Who knows! :)
Only 9 days left till one of the key dates for Metro, on 23rd we would definitely see a large drop or price increase (do not think the SP would stay “stable” one way or another)…… IF the FCA (that would be interesting) decides to come out with its conclusion on the same day the SP would either drop to 100 or double its value. Until then not bothered about the 2% - 4% SP swings (good for day trade)……only thing which could add a few % is an RNS increase of holding.
I personally do not think the results would be bad. Any bad publicity would have been missed as everyone's eyes were on Parliament being closed. Having said that any "impact" would show in year end results. But again let's not forget Metro was voted best bank end of August as such (considering deposits were increasing) it should show better than expected. What I would be interested in is running costs decrease and funds set aside for FCA investigation. These two (together with more positive signals from Brexit) would indeed allow for the SP to recover well.
LB28 chill out :) week end is here, also using your logic on day traders...they would have to buy the shares in the first place! That means plenty are willing to sell (and rightly so as many who jumped in this morning would have made a few £££) profit is profit and good luck to them.
I am slightly surprised on how little Metro has increased today. I think the FCA investigation is what everyone is waiting for. As long as nothing negative happens this week end, and if the negotiations with the EU are still positive, the PS should keep climbing. Ultimately there are going to be a few bumpy days ahead.
so to summarize, a poster put some thing on Twitter and people are actually believing in it? I would like very much like but this is wrong but doubt it. Let take one step at time, until the FCA comes out with their finding I am not sure any company would want to make an offer .......
watchdog only told half the story. Majority of banks (and credit card companies) still use the text on mobile phone as a security measure. What the program failed to explain is HOW the fraudsters had access to the account as well. They did not just have the phone number details (inc owner details) but also bank details etc...... his whole pc must have more trojans than anything ever. Investing on a good antivirus should be the first thing he should use the 5K for.....
I was actually reviewing closely any media news etc during that week (just in case any journalist decided to do a "run " of the banks kind of article) but any mention about metro was in the small articles and nowhere else (apart form share news), as such I do not think the mess they made had any impact.
Yes you are but remember you would get all different type of responses, from those saying keep it until 15£ to those who say sell immediately etc. If you believe in the company long term, you could sell the profit and invest it for the long term that is all. :)
agreed, Only got left the long term holding (3-5 years) if I lose it so be it. Short term is not healthy great for day trade but not for me anymore ..... as long as Q3 results are not worse than anticipated and confirm the updates from July it would be seen as a turning point. FCA /Brexit no deal would indeed have key impact on the SP but eventually it will recover (the basics are there) and if cost reduction etc are showing the market can only see it as positive.
