Thanks for the reference; very interesting. ZOX got around the problems of corrosion by using ceramic linings the areas subject to corrosion. This was ~ 5 years ago and i do not doubt PHE will use the most corrosion resistant material available. as the research report points out the higher temperatures at which the DMG runs does not make tar but solid waste instead.

I was once invested in ZOX , who used a rotary hearth funace to extract zinc from furnace dust. Apart from the fact that this would only make money with Zn at above $2000, ZOX had terrible problems with component failures due to corrosion at the high temperature of the furnce, from memory ~1300C, and similar to the DMG. I think this will be the Achilles heel of the system, and while it was reassuring to see the 1 ton model working, I will not be able to relax until the 35tpd system proves itself over a sustained pariod. Needless to say i lost money on ZOX

Does work start on preparing the site (once the pterodactyls have stopped nesting) Aug 1st or Sept 1st? I think a lot of engineering work for the unit can be done offsite, with final assembly obviously to take place on site , so one hopes that completion of the unit will not take very long after the ground work is complete. Then testing , a great deal of testing, can procede. That will be crunch time for all of us. I reckon end 2020, early 2021 if all goes well. Been here since 2011, so I hope patience will be rewarded big time.
