They can’t control or predict the market reaction, certainly in these times. It looks like they either overestimated the market reaction or they just couldn’t make the cuts required to really impact things.

I agree just find it odd that when the deal was first finalised there was no calm “let’s see how it is at 8am”. Things change fast huh?

Knightrider, is this the response you were expecting from the market? You still expecting this short squeeze you were excited about just after the deal was finalised?

The intended purpose of the cuts was to boost oil prices and they are yet to move so relative to the intended outcome the market is certainly underwhelmed.

To be fair you did say...

...which isn’t entirely consistent. That said, I do agree that it will go down here if things stay as is.

Wow, still can’t believe that this deal hasn’t done anything more positive to the oil prices. If it stays like this then tomorrow is going to be very interesting.

You’re right, this has to end up positive today else it will be a disaster pretty much. Looks like it’s on the up.

I personally have no doubt that this will rise given time in the medium term. I haven’t been in oilies for a while so just really enjoying the intensity of the investment here at the moment. My aim is to do a bit of short term trading to get up to approx 650k shares and therefore 22p would do nicely!

As I made the call to sell out late thurs, thought I would be walking away come tues. interesting stuff.

I mean if nothing more positive happens to the oil prices before Tuesday open, it’s gonna be really interesting here. Probably looking at 20-22p I would have thought based on the gains leading up to this meeting.

After all these years I thought I would be immune to the ramping but I have to admit, I actually started to believe them this afternoon after the news. Let’s see what happens.

I don’t think it’s over yet. I do expect a more positive reaction over the next 24 hours but I am still amazed it’s not responded better so far.

What about buy on rumour, sell on news? I mean the deal is happening right? The main headlines of the deal are known? The market surely is taking this into account?

In these times I am not sure they could predict the market reaction.

I am amazed it hasn’t reacted more positively. Surely the markets have already started to price in the announcement?

I agree if they are only short. What some people fail to realise here is that the big shorters are likely hedging against their long positions. Which means that they aren’t nervous about their positions, nor do they need to rush to close them.

There are plenty who have bagged 200% profits here in the last couple of weeks. You are saying people who take that profit are moronic and desperate?

So why is it ok for you to be negative but not someone else?

Why do you assume that people are nervous who sold out? There is a real chance that this deal doesn’t go through. There is a real chance that any deal agreed underwhelms the market. There is a real chance that the deal goes ahead and the market loves it.

If you think the deal is 100% going to happen you’re an idiot. If you think it’s 100% not going to happen then you’re also an idiot.

You make your decisions based on an objective view of the current circumstances. It’s the difference between being an investor and a straight out gambler.

I was under the impression that generally people expected some kind of deal. It was the level of cuts that seemed to be the area of uncertainty.

I have a feeling that most of the shorters are far more experienced and objective than most of the posters on this forum. Remember that shorters have made huge sums of cash on the way down, so they probably aren’t as nervous as you would like to think.
