Is the "sale and lease back" the same as "wet lease"?

I dont recall seeing anything about sale and lease back.. only wet lease.... maybe I should read it again.

I was struck by the amortization and depreciation increasing over 100M... 200% yoy... What's that about?

I do recall seeing the engine issue is expected to be resolved by mid 2025.... which will clearly make a huge difference to bottom line

And in that 4 months (oct22-jan23) when the price moved from 1350 to 3010, the business was publishing losses of c500m 3 years running.

last year fy24 we posted a profit of 350m, (that's about 900m improvement on the previous year) this year fy25 guidance is 350-450

the following, year when the engine problem is solved and Israel has settled down... boom!

yes, there is 4.7b of dept, most (3b) of that is under the EMTN programme and not due until 2030. I'd be interested if anyone knows anything about the facility for the other 1.7b

So that was 3 directors investing nearly half a million quid of their own cash on Monday.

Clearly like us, they can't guess exactly where the bottom is....

Well, that’s a reasonable question. Obviously, the views I express are just my subjective opinion.

Perhaps I’m too much of a glass half full kind of guy… but;

* I think particularly now with Rusia backing Iran and US back Israel… the region will stabilise with nobody wanting all-out war.

* Hopeful oil prices will stay low

* US economy fears will reduce when the FED lower interest rates, perhaps later than they should have…

* US employment numbers… its only about (from memory) 40k fewer new jobs than expected… not massive as a % of the work force and unemployment about the same as UK @ about 4.4%

* Japan increasing their interest rate after 17 years, to a colossal 0.1%... is coincidental to the US economy fears… neither has caused the other… but the coincidence has cause increased fear/panic.

So, in sort over the next few months the world will be look like a much better place to live and we’ll all be millionaires.

The opportunity to pick up cheep shares will be gone before Christmas.

Isn't is luck that all the Directors got their free shares just in time for the ex-Div on Thursday.

I sold half my BT holding this morning and put it into Wizz

I read somewhere Wizz will be / are seeking a more realistic level of compensation.

Probably gona buy Wizz instead

I see from the presentation Net debt / EBITDAR is down from 7.2 Q1F24 to 3.7 Q1F25, reduction of 49%

FYI, there is far better discussion of the Wizz results happing on the EasyJet board than on this one.

Depreciation and amortisation cost 80M up YoY

That's double the drop in Operating profit, which is only 40M YoY

Without this increase in Depreciation and amortisation, profits would be up 40M instead of down 40M.

I'm no accountant but it looks a bit like Wizz are trying to hide their profits.

My take is, not just that Eastern Europe flight are more expensive, but also that there is 'probably' less competition and therefore the margin is better.
