Anyway, I am watching this one closely for another potential side pot trade, as I mentioned the other day.

A couple more days perhaps to see how the land lies.

What ultimately matters though is the last update. Which many of us are happy with.

The only thing holding me back is my consistent inability to call this one right, insofar as trading patterns go...so if I take that side pot, you might want to open a short, lol. Good weekend all.

It is something that has not gone away, in principle, since whenever that bid was proffered.

IMO more feasible after the March numbers, if it is going to happen again. Or a fresh suitor, no idea.

FWIW, I am open-minded, but as long as the BOD keep putting things back on track, then frankly I am indifferent either way.

I am a fan of no politician, but given the choice that Americans had...it was a no brainer.

Not sure how you arrived at the conclusion that he inherited a booming economy in 2016, or certainly your claim that he has done so again, but this is a de-rail, so will leave it there.

Well...quite so.

Not if you are a shorter, perhaps. I have seen a few broker downgrades a few days (even one single day) before a company update.

In the majority of cases, those broker notes looked foolish soon after. Anecdotal of course, and perhaps this one will be the exception to that rule.

But you are mistaken if you think it likely that they know something that we do not.

And at this price, even a mediocre update will not necessarily lead to a big red day, IMO.

A good one? Hope you have a tight stop set for your short :)

Anyway, as I said a while ago, I am anticipating a middling to weak update, personally, but my bigger picture thesis remains unchanged here.

Not a big position, because it would be foolish to dismiss the potential risks, but certainly able and willing to add a few more in the right circumstances. GLA and just my thoughts.

I retook a few here the other day. The chart IMO looks like it might be starting to form a bowl.

Just a planned trade. My opinions from the last time I posted here are unchanged, but if I do not get my target price before the next update and it disappoints, then I agree with Adastra that I think the BOD will not be able to turn down another offer. Even if it is lower than the VLX one was. Or BOD changes, with some people who can deliver here.

So, I am hoping that anything under 90p is unlikely to be underwater for long, although not taking anything for granted, naturally. GLA.

I think we probably need to get back above 60p-ish to feel confident that the bottom is in, but hopefully we will now see some steady buying in the weeks ahead, after that IMO impressive update. GLA.

Ahead of expectations, even only slightly...after the SP action of late....I will take that. Phew! GLA.

The short closures probably drove a lot of that upward momentum.

IMO we need to see the specifics in the March update to enjoy some real price discovery.

Especially if we see a clear picture of significant debt reduction, and some basic forward guidance suggesting more of the same.

Until then, we are going to likely be somewhat range bound, IMO.

I pay them absolutely no heed, beyond looking to see if they provide a potentially useful contrary indicator for either adding, or slicing, a position. Anecdotally, I have found this to be quite useful for this purpose, although not 100% of the time, naturally.

A question I asked myself once, a while ago: do these brokers publish this information, accessible freely to anyone, as an act of civic duty? Do their own clients have to wait to read it the same time that you and I do? Do they even give their clients the exact same advice? Lol.

Broker downgrades are often a sign to start buying, or at least to do so within a couple of weeks or so of said downgrade, IMO and of course, generally speaking.

Let's see if he can even achieve significant cost savings from public spending. Even allowing for the special place the US holds as the global reserve currency, at some point, even their debt levels will matter.

I think choosing him over KH was an absolute no-brainer, if I was American. But, even with genuine intentions, can he do what others before him have tried and failed to do?

We shall see. I hope he can. I hope even more that we can get our own leader who is patriotic, economically literate...and able to drain our own swamp. One heck of a task, but if Argentina can, then absolutely no reason for our nations to not be able to do similarly, IMO.

What makes me chuckle is that some people think that politicians - even Presidents and Prime Ministers - actually have any power over such things. No doubt many would like to. The central banks control the game. Even before they were granted formal 'independence' to control interest rates, as was the case, first under Brown, I think it was.

Anyway, I have taken a couple more small nibbles here today. Sitting on my hands now until/unless my 77 buy orders hit.

It often happens when a 3/6/12 month high gets printed.

I have seen it many times. That is part of my thinking behind the potential new range I mentioned earlier.

A bit of a pull back after a solid rise, some consolidation, and then hopefully onto the next leg up. Time will tell. GLA.

Gut feeling (so can be safely ignored, lol) is we might have a new trading range around 69p - 75p or so.

My longer term confidence, and SP expectations, as I have cited before, is unchanged.

But I may, or may not, open a fresh trading position with the above in mind.

So if I am right, you can all marvel at my foresight.

If I am wrong....we can all just pretend this post never happened :) GLA.

A mixed bag, but more good than bad, IMO.

The continued uncertainty of macro headwinds, and the ongoing uncertainty of how much future remedial work (and costs therein) are the negatives to my mind.

See if you get some chunky inside buying today. GLA.
