Even before first contract news, which, if forthcoming, will be transformational, one would expect.

I think we have probably churned most, perhaps all, of those placing shares belonging to those whose intention was to flip for a quick profit, plus anyone else who wanted out after getting spiked before the placing, maybe.

Not advocating you buy in, but just challenging the notion that you have missed the boat when the price is still sub 1p, for example.

Whether we do end up with the shame of a bailout or not, IMO defence spending cuts would not be a condition of any loans.

Other areas of public spending, sure, but not military related stuff. Rightly or wrongly.

The only solution is significant cuts to public spending (especially those areas most at risk of fraud and theft).

You can usually tell which ones those are, by how hard politicians fight to keep their department from cuts etc, lol. Only kidding of course :)

Everyone I have spoken to, from accountants to various friends, think that a new gambling levy of some sort is likely and for obvious political reasons.

But I am still backing the boss here to ride the storm. Get through the next few years, if this government does not collapse sooner, and hopefully a more intelligent government next time around, that will repeal significant amounts of the current failed, ideologically driven, bad law that has been passed by people unfit for office.

Including any new gambling related stuff. Time will tell and GLA.

DG has posted an earnings beat and raised their full year outlook.

Hopefully we will see similar here in the short to medium term, even allowing for us having greater challenges right now than our cousins across the Pond. GLA.

If we get a government soon that repeals significant amounts of existing Big Brother legislation, then that is where the more optimistic hope sits, IMO.

It actually annoys me when some politicians equate this with wanting to remove protections from children.

I consider them to be either dim or dishonest, quite frankly. And the very nature of this false, underhand accusation is quite offensive as well.

We could also then ask why, if they care so much about our children, what about the migrant hotels and HMO's etc.

I am grateful to those citizen journalists for bringing so much bad stuff into the light of day.

If only such technology existed in the past couple of decades, how many of the well-known atrocities could have been avoided, with cover ups and blind eye turning far harder to achieve?

Retec: I am not suggesting that private sector pensions are relevant to the public purse, in the way public sector pensions are.

The anecdotal example that the other poster just gave about his retired civil service friend is a fairly common one - but people doing his old job today will be on materially worse t's and c's. That is a ponzi scheme. Same for private sector employees past and present (albeit executive compensation has ballooned versus the old days - but that does not account for this disparity overall).

The relevance is that these liabilities impact on the businesses of today. The money still needs to be paid and those liabilities are only set to increase in the next few years.

So, some will grow profits sufficiently to manage this, but others will (and are) being harmed by this costly obligation. Which impacts current employee remuneration. Which impacts consumer spending and the saving capacity of said younger employees. And the investment scope of said businesses too.

When some go pop, the 'lifeboat' fund steps in (albeit not picking up the entire tab).

If a lot more go pop in the next few years, will the lifeboat fund have enough to continue to cover these liabilities to the same degree as today? We can only speculate on that, but if not, then presumably the tax payer will have to step in. Meaning yet more public money needed, when our debt pile is already resembling a failing state, such as one learned about at school 30 years ago.

Retec: What I mean is, the UK has a lot of companies that have significant pension liabilities (especially historical) from the old days and far more generous terms and conditions.

Again, I cannot remember exactly where I read the following, but it was a while ago now - apparently pension rates were based on the exceptional rates of economic growth from the early 1950's.

Seemingly not taking into account the reality that such growth was not in line with the mean. It was because of coming out of WW2 and all the rebuilding etc that this event required. So it was on an unsustainable footing pretty much from the get go. Presumably public sector pension forecasting was based on a similar premise, but I'm less sure about that.

The first time I became aware of the pensions time bomb was in the late 1990's I think. In a Times article - but that is a distant memory, so please take that as anecdotal. I know about the Gordon Brown raid (another mistake of his, IMO) but that alone is not the sole reason for these pension issues.

Fiscal drag is hurting the majority now, IMO.

This is relevant to all shares (including this one), because sooner or later, it will see an increase in draw downs to pay for things that were otherwise being handled with an individual's FCF.

ETF's here and across the Pond are showing signs of this, so I have read somewhere.

It is the risk of stagflation that IMO is being overlooked by many (and the MSM, naturally), but ultimately, I cannot see a good path for any western government to take now.

IMO the best route (least worst) would be significant public spending cuts and a more sensible tax policy. Meaning significant tax cuts. That might prevent an economic depression, but it might not, at this stage.

But the alternative, which is worse, is this continued death spiral spending.

I guess it depends on whether you would rather take the pain to fix things for your children and grandchildren, or continue to rack up the credit card bill and hand it onto them.

And with it a social credit system? It is already happening, albeit seemingly not that well organised yet (bank account closures of various politicians and other prominent individuals that have committed wrong speak, or at risk of doing so, in recent years).

How about the more recent plans of the Justice Secretary, involving banning convicted people from attending pubs, concerts and sporting events? Just a few days ago and reported in the BBC, among other sources.

I never take issue with anyone who posts bullish or bearish opinions, regardless of whether or not I agree with them.

What animosity?

I was having a little banter with a poster who 'bombards' another share.

Have a look at their profile history, seeing as you have decided to involve yourself, and perhaps you might decide to come back and apologise.

The trouble is, and has been for decades, both the private and especially the public sector pensions have been too generous, relative to how long they are paid out.

Which is why current employees in both the private and the public sector are essentially being screwed, to pay for being at the wrong end of this particular ponzi scheme.

I always wondered how long they could continue this until they finally moved the goal posts on it. Something they did with student loans and many other things besides, so hardly unique. WASPI women too.

Is it fair? Not really. Simply because moving the goal posts never is.

But few people under the age of 40 or so will feel that sympathetic for the above reasons.

And just to say, as a former business owner, I am not in that category, even if I am in the age range. Does not mean I cannot see things from said employee perspective.

Hitting ISA's, given it is already post-tax cash invested, versus the SIPP set up, IMO might be legally dubious. But that is where good old fiscal drag comes into play.

It is what it is, until or unless we have a radical shake up in Parliament. No, I do not see that happening either.

If TA plays out in this case, then 0.48-ish is the bottom of the current upward channel (CBA to plot it perfectly, lol).

But it will be interesting to see if it does go there and how it reacts from that point.

More generally, whether we see another TR-1 or not shortly, isn't something to worry about at this stage IMO.
