These work a bit differently from fuel cell trucks – they’re effectively diesel engines but fuelled with hydrogen instead – but crucially, they can be built with existing engine technology, making them cheaper to produce.

According to BMW, the particularly low level of emissions produced by burning hydrogen means that hydrogen combustion engine trucks are classed as zero-emission vehicles under EU regulations.

DHL, Volvo Trucks, Deutz, KEYOU, and TotalEnergies are all involved too, suggesting hydrogen combustion might have a real future alongside fuel cells.

⚡ Element 2 secures approval for hydrogen refueling station at Teesside Airport

The company has received planning approval from Darlington Borough Council for its first permanent hydrogen refueling station. The facility, located near the former St. George Hotel at Teesside International Airport, is a strategic move in the UK’s hydrogen adoption push.

The Teesside station will include two refuelling bays (350 and 700 bar), a hydrogen dispenser, and three storage tanks. The station will operate 24/7 as a self-service site, ensuring accessibility for heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) and other fleet operators.

Element 2’s Teesside station is partially funded through Innovate UK, reflecting government backing for hydrogen infrastructure. The company has already conducted over 1,500 refuelling operations at pilot sites and plans to roll out 50 stations nationwide by 2030.

Toyota Motor Europe has signed an agreement with Hydrogen Refueling Solutions (HRS) and ENGIE with the aim of rolling out the next-generation of hydrogen refuelling systems. The new solution, which is faster and more cost efficient, will be piloted in an EU-funded RHeaDHy project that focusses on accelerating infrastructure deployment.

I can’t see ITM giving Helikon any preferential share options to close a position which has decimated the share price that has put pressure on the CEO by investors, both private and institutional investors. Far better to let Helikon buy the shares back on the open market that they sold them on and in turn return shareholder value and keeping both Institutional & Private Shareholders extremely happy 😃

The sp is definitely under pressure and there is limited time for Helikon to get their house in order, I reckon they will have to get their cheque book out very soon and it will cost them, it will be great for them to receive the same medicine they have inflicted on us.
