Great find Lukask 👍
Pages 23–27 are actually pretty reassuring.
Hydrology has clearly been on the radar for years. The document says the underground mine may alter deeper groundwater circulation in part, but should not materially affect water sources used around Cínovec or threaten ecosystems including peatlands.
It also refers to the protective rock barrier, sealing/isolating relevant mine works, ongoing monitoring, new boreholes, rainfall/runoff modelling and even preparation of a joint cross-border monitoring system with Zinnwald.
Importantly, the document already anticipates continued monitoring and refinement as part of the EIA process. That’s normal for major projects.
If anything further is required, it would most likely come in the form of standard EIA conditions, monitoring obligations or supplementary technical detail, which is entirely normal for projects of this scale.
So this doesn’t look like some sudden German spanner in the works. It looks like a known, limited, technical cross-border process being dealt with properly.
