Lloyds share price is not based on an historic yield. We had Lloyds in the 80's with zero yield.

It's all very well anticipating a near 100% certainty of a rate rise, but no one knows what a vote outcome and wording coming out of a meeting will look like.

precisely - I always put a conservative amount into a new investment, allowing/hoping for a fall, so that I can gradually increase a holding to a more substantial level.
I have had one or two investments where they have taken off immediatel, making large percentage gains but being left with just my initial one or two purchases.
