Knowing it to me is all that matters - over 8 Billion shares bought by repurchase programmes and hopefully at least another 3.5 Billion this year.

it feels very good to me - my personal dividend yield is about 12% plus about the same returned via the buyback.

I am sure you could work that out if the market still gave a market cap of £35 Billion in 10 years time, but of course shareholders would want to see an even greater effect, by the market giving a valuation nearer to book value

The current market cap is under £35 Billion, which in itself is way below book value.

there was a small buyback in 2018 and then the 2019 buyback was cut short.
No buybacks in the following 2 years.
The first worthwhile buyback since the formation of LBG was last year, with a second worthwhile buyback just under way

to put it simply for you, if the share buyback was at book value, the book value per share would remain the same.
Purchasing under book value means that book value per share increases.

If you are not happy with that investment choice you are free to invest elsewhere.
