That was the dotcom bubble - basically businesses with very little backing with fundamentals being valued in the billions just because of an internet presence . I stayed well clear. Instead in early 2000 I invested in the likes of BAT and CLS holdings.

The core UK inflation rate increased to 6.8% - meaning in my view that base rate needs to increase further in 4 weeks time

A countries inflation figures can only be a direct comparison to the same countries previous inflation figures.

No - they have not cancelled dividends payments. They hav no control over the SP, that is determined by investors. They are already making more than a decent return to shareholders, running into double digits. Not sure how many other stocks are returning at those levels.

it is all very well trading some stock, but a lot of investors like myself like to keep at least a core holding of stock to keep for the longer term.

Personally I consider a doubling in a per share price quite fast.

I am sure many investors are influenced by forecasts in their decision making.

Being weighed down still with the US debt ceiling discussions.

Also the prospect of further base rate increases being required.
