Lloyds do not purchase shares and hold them in treasury.

Share are bought by staff in SAYE schemes or given instead of diminishing cash from the balance sheet as part of remuneration.

Some companies offer the option of issuing new shares (scrip) instead of cash being paid out from the balance sheet.

So shares or cash makes no net difference

New shares by way of staff purchases/remuneration are relevant to the total voting rights number and totally irrelevant to the number of shares repurchased and cancelled by recnt programmes .

Without such repurchases and cancellations there would now have been over 76 Billion hares in issue now.

The issuing of new shares has been beneficial to shareholders, as they have been at a 'premium' to NAV.

The last such issue was at 240.5p

The shares may well return to 'normal ' again in the near future,with the share price at a premium.

Today's increase in price was certainly a move in that direction.

Happy with my last purchase at 210.5p with a very high yield.

there is always room for illegals - being close together will help them stay a bit warmer in the strong winter winds. In any case there would not be 135,000 of them. Batches of 30,000 sent there at a time would suffice. They would probably have all asked to leave the UK within a few months making room for the next batch.

The last two programmes , stamp duty has been an additional cost on top of the £2 Billion

you went a little wrong - share repurchases can be made so long as the price is not more than 5% above the average price of shares in the 5 business days prior to the day of purchase.

The 2018 programme was completed.

The 2019 programme was stopped due to further PPI provisions.

7% of current share price is about 3p.

In terms of value in pence per share, that obviously depends on a current share price. With a doubling in share price from the current level, the percentage of shares cancelled would have a doubled pence per share value.

Have had a mark up today (along with markets) following Jackson Hole, as opposed to the possibility of a mark down from the physiological effect of the ending of the buyback.

After last purchasing at about 42p cum dividend, a mark down was required for me to consider another purchase.
