I will also repeat again - if Lloyds has maintained or increased profitability and the removal of Billions of shares continues each year, then long term holders should do OK.

Investors in Lloyds are interested in what returns are made to shareholders.

A 6.5% dividend yield is available now. An investor purchasing now at 42p has no concerns that a different amount was paid per share giving only a 5% yield in 2019.

Also shareholders are very happy to see the cancellation of Billions of shares - they voted overwhelming in favour for repurchases and cancellations.

Now , share price at 42p - forward dividend yield about 6.5%

I had already posted recently - higher yielding stocks are not being helped by the much higher rate environment that we are now in after a decade + of very low rates

That will be determined by the percentage difference in the amount of shares that there would have been without cancellations and the share price at any given time.The relative price differential per share would be double the current differential at a share price of 84p.
