Dividend Yield + Buyback = total returns given by a business.

Obviously the movement in capital value of an investors shares are a plus or minus on top.

I have NEVER said that buybacks are part of a yield.

Each individual investors historic/forward yield will vary depending upon the price paid for shares, and the amount per share that has been/expected to be paid as a dividend.

In addition a share buyback for cancellation is a further return to shareholders, measured as a percentage increase in ownership that a programme is able to achieve . So total returns to shareholders are the combined dividend yield and the buyback.

The lower the share price, the greater percentage of shares that can be bought and cancelled with a set amount of money.

At the outset of a buyback programme, as well as the spend amount,it may be reported that the buyback is worth X pence per share, based on the spend amount, share price and market cap at the time.

A standard sort of resolution, but a buyback would need to become a BOD policy to act upon the permission granted.

The sole purpose of a share buyback is to reduce share capital.

Lets be clear, Flec is happy for SHELL to be allowed in an ISA where it is virtually all a foreign overseas investment, with foreign overseas shareholders, but not Alphabet or Microsoft who have invested Billions in the UK.

as I said, investing in the ftse 100, will be mainly foreign investment.

I will be getting a minimum 10% annual income from SMIF until I decide to sell. On top I have already had a 15% growth in capital value. You will have to make do with just a bit of interest. Enjoy your cash.
