More complete nonsense from you - you have a screw loose. Low earners pay zero or 20% income tax, but with many receiving benefits which is equivelant to a big boost to their income - a benefit like LHA.

High earners pay 45% income tax.

About 60% of income tax comes from the top 10% of earners (which I am well into)

I also have managed from scratch to not have been a burden the the UK plc finances - I have contributed a fortune in tax to pay for the scroungers working the benefits system as a lifestyle choice.

I started off with Zero money - then for about 85% of my working life I paid top rate tax . From what was left over, after normal eveyday expediture and with further spending, I invested in property and stocks.

Now you think it acceptable to tax ALL OVER AGAIN at 40% with IHT.

That I am afraid simply puts many people into the mindset of not bothering to save/invest at all, as the state/taxpayers will make up for any required future 'shortfall', and thus putting an unnecessary extra burden on the UK plc finances.

Cutting benefits and incentivising investment should be the way, which means NO inheritance tax. Those inheriting would most likely be far less of a burden on the state for support.

the excuse for this outrageous tax , is that it affects only a few - an absolutely pathetic reason to keep it.

Another outrageous tax is the one where you have to hand over a large amount of money simply by relocating from A to B.

It should not be a question of where else would the tax come from, but a question of what spending can be cut - that is an easy one.

Cutting certain taxes can actually prove to be a generator of incresed tax revenue.
