Took some more today with profits from poly...trying to stay positive and think this is just a prolonged period for accumulation, we're on the thick of the worst bit now so hopefully the market will start too look forward soon

And I'm not sure they really would other than the normal stuff...we're not under investigation or sanctioned only suspended for clarity, if the listing were to be removed then no need for that clarity...only reason I think they could block it was to not loose control old RA's holding but I honestly believe if we were to leave they'd find away around that to make the embarrassing problem that is us go away

Hippo...I don't think they'd need too much convincing to allow us to go away in the current climate...I think evr and poly are currently a bit of an embarrassment to hmg which they'd like to dissappear

Hippo...I agree wouldn't surprise me if it's a good year before we see trading again...fca don't make moves to back track a few weeks later...they will throw endless questions and ignore the answers for as long as they can to play for time....in the meantime will evr think going private for a few years is easier until the dust has completely settled...after all lse and hmg and the fca are no friends to evr so why stay around

As hippo said, we've already done a good deal of damage, if we go as far as removing companies with no proof of wrong doing then new investment from multi nationals will be no more than a pipe dream for many years to come

Wolf...no I'm not saying bp or rio will leave....thats sensationalising to try and validate your point....a well worn tactic to quote the ridiculous to try and strengthen an argument...but new investment into the ftse will think about it....and many companies with assets in unpopular jurisdictions will think about if the ftse is the right place to be or weather the more forgiving exchanges in the east might be a better bet

They could even do it even cheaper by offering a buyout of current shares or shares in the private company...I for one would stick with it as it was always a divi investment for me

I'm not confusing anything you refer to "russians" in a lot of your posts...I don't...I said it a few days ago but it starts to border on the xenophobic when "russian" is referred to as a bad thing.

Hippo...your much better with words than me but that's basically what I've been saying all night....if I was evr I'd take it private for a time...they'd get the free float for a very good price...major holders happy, hmg happy as they could spin it as getting rid of russian shares from the ftse...fca happy as its just a headache they don't want to deal with and the majority of minority shareholders atleast reasonably happy. Its not my preferred outcome but if I were evr it's the one I'd be pursuing...they can always relist in the future elsewhere when sentiment is better

This is a run of the mill company...every company would know that their interests in their area could be the next special circumstance at a different point in time

Multi national companies would pay massive attention....russia is today's fight...nothing to say what the fight in 5 years will be. If the UK and the ftse take the stance of screwing investors because a company has interests in a place they decide to have a fight with it will massively undermine the market....your naive if you think large companies won't look at it with that longer view

You didn't read my post properly...they could try to delist without reason (although not sure of the legalities of that) I never mentioned this going to court....the damage that would be done to the image of the ftse would be enough. All companies with assets in foreign countries would pay attention and I doubt there would be many new listing of companies with multi national assets. They won't do this to our market as that type of reputational damage is hard to shake...or they could make an accusation like the steel for tanks nonsense and delist on that basis and face the legal case that would follow

Our politicians are frothing at the mouth at the minute...if they could delist evr they would...its only because they know whatever justification they used would land them in an expensive and eventual loosing court case that stays their hand...to delist without reason undermines the free market, delisting with a reason lands them in court...better for them to allow the FCA to send an endless list of questions with a 4 week waiting time between responses until its deemed no longer required
