The history of the Tesorillo Project goes back to the 50s, when Spain suffered a great shortage of fuels. As a result of the US-Spain approach in 1953, the consortium of De Golyer & Mac Naughton and Valdebro companies drilled several oil exploration wells in the province of Cádiz, in the area between El Almarchal and Cerro Gordo.
And in 1956, using a rudimentary drilling equipment on land near El Almarchal, a gas accumulation with different production levels in Tertiary sandstones between 700 and 2,200 meters deep was identified, which was documented and was the subject of further studies.
However, due to the geological complexity and the precariousness of technical means of the time, it was not possible to control the flow of gas in the survey, and after several failed tests, the drilling was abandoned and the drilling was closed.
Now, Tarba Energía fully has the exploration permits of the area and the technology necessary to develop it successfully.
The prospecting space is located in an agricultural area, away from the protected areas of the NATURA 2000 NETWORK, between the mountains of El Retín and La Plata, and quite a few kilometers from the natural parks of the Strait, La Breña and Los Alcornocales. There is no possible collision with protected spaces, fauna or flora. Nor does it affect any livestock or habitat of community interest.
