A third of UK chief executives have considered moving their listing overseas, according to figures that deliver a fresh blow to London’s stock exchange.

The findings from advisory firm Teneo show 32 per cent of bosses have discussed with their board the possibility of moving away from the UK market.

Activity in the UK private sector hit a six-month high in December boosted by a pick-up in the services sector, figures showed Friday.

At 51.7 in December, up from 50.7 in November, the headline seasonally adjusted S&P Global/CIPS Flash UK PMI composite output index pointed to the fastest rise in private sector business activity since June.

“Higher levels of business activity were supported by a renewed improvement in order books, alongside efforts to work through post-pandemic backlogs,” the survey said.

The UK services PMI business activity index registered 52.7 compared to 50.9 in November, a six-month high, but manufacturing remained subdued.

The manufacturing PMI hit a two-month low at 46.4 compared to 47.2 in November.

Chris Williamson, chief business economist at S&P Global Market Intelligence said: “The UK economy continues to dodge recession, with growth picking up some momentum at the end of the year to suggest that GDP stagnated over the fourth quarter as a whole.”

But he noted it was “a dual-speed economy, with manufacturing contracting sharply while services regained some poise.”

Heathrow airport has said next year should bring an uptick in passenger numbers to record levels as the aviation sector continues to see strong travel demand.

Some 81.4 million passengers are estimated to pass through the airport in 2024, Heathrow said in an investor update, which would mark an increase of 2.9%.

LONDON, Dec 14 (Reuters) - Saudi Arabian energy giant Aramco has signed a new five-year agreement to become exclusive title sponsor of the Aston Martin Formula One team from next season, both parties announced on Thursday.

The team previously had U.S.-based IT company Cognizant as joint title sponsor with Aramco but will be known officially as Aston Martin Aramco from January. Cognizant will remain as a strategic partner.

Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF) recently increased its stake in British luxury carmaker Aston Martin to 20.5%.
