From the Telegraph today, interview with Dr Hans Kluge, director for WHO Europe …
“Countries should use this time wisely and start to strengthen public health systems as well as building capacity in hospitals, primary care and intensive care units, he said.”
Second wave – “could coincide with an outbreak of other infectious diseases.”
Second wave –“Africa and Eastern Europe?”
“But in the absence of an effective treatment for the virus, or a vaccine, Dr Kluge said any lockdown had to be accompanied by rigorous public health measures including comprehensive contact tracing and testing”.
Now the testing co. folks will like that, but what about the “effective treatment”?
Goes on to say that the “key message” is – “The full disease control package has to be in place.”
So that’s got to include treatments, for people with underlying respiratory health conditions and weakened immune systems, all the better if Prophylaxis demonstrated.
Trial results due soon – COPD and CV19 hospital, to be followed later by CV19 home, double-blind placebo controlled, ‘gold standard’, professional team, UK medics (the best), any more …?
Oh yes, from the 26/05/20 results RNS – “In the event that the current trials prove successful, Synairgen has made good progress with suppliers to scale up production of SNG001 rapidly with the aim of being able to supply meaningful quantities by the end of this year”.
