If (current) Affimers were not to detect the new variant (probably unlikely, as confidence being expressed in Vaccine so far) then Avacta will design and build a slightly different Affimer to bind to the (possibly modified?) virus target. Affimers are designed-for-purpose and new Affimers should be able to be created much more quickly than (for example) Antibodies. If the new ‘strain’ of virus does require new ‘detection’ reagents it seems likely that Avacta will be able to react quickly with the rest of the ‘kit’ (whether BAMS or LFT) likely to remain unchanged.

Certainly is "fantastic stuff".
Affimers are 'detection molecules', designed-for-purpose to attach to a particular site with 100% specificity. Remember what was said earlier in the year ...
"Expanding detection to other SARS-COV-2 antigens will enable configuration of a multiplexed BAMS assay to simultaneously monitor multiple viral proteins for added specificity in the case of future pandemics".
So, once the overall technology is proven, should be able to design and manufacture Affimers for other viruses and utilise Mass Spec capabilities (no doubt similarly with LFT's).
Diagnostic capability for the long term.

@Hurst10, see your last 2 points were phrased more as statements than questions. Just wondered if you have any further info re AZN intentions. Genuine (not catch) question, I personally am of a similar sentiment in terms of AVCT being acquired.
Whether this means waiting for BAMS/LFT (proving Affimers and generating some revenue), and if in parts or whole (e.g. Diagnostics / Therapeutics split), and whether from a UK ‘big pharma’ player (say AZN or GSK), or from the US (say Danaher?), Europe (maybe Roche?), or even perhaps our Korean friends?
AZN proposed takeover of Alexion has certainly ‘stirred things up’ a bit. All good.

Following through on the Danaher Cepheid connection … “David Persing, chief medical and technology officer at Danaher's Cepheid, who also spoke on the panel, said that antigen tests can be really valuable to provide short-term results around infectivity."
Seems Cepheid where acquired by Danaher in 2016 for $4bn.
Cepheid seem like a focused diagnostics business with a range of tests including SARS-CoV-2 and Flu combo tests. Albeit RT-PCR targeting N2 - nucleocapsid gene and E – envelope protein gene, using nasal swab, cartridge, reader machine and healthcare professional to administer. So not a direct competitor. But perhaps they need a ‘really valuable antigen tests’ in their portfolio?

Just to get a ‘common sense’ check on the ‘meaning’ to be drawn from the updated test validation page under the heading ‘Validation concluded or paused’ (as per links already provided).
The speculation is that this is us (i.e. BAMS) …

Notwithstanding the above, we’re waiting for TT to complete, then Sir Al will tell us what’s going on with LFT?
