Toyin, if you actually listen to that video you’ll hear that he mentions ‘science has lots of hurdles’ ‘there’s a process that must be gone through’. He shouldn’t have given a timeline on such an early stage development but entrepreneurs are generally very optimistic. Probably too optimistic. They’ve delivered annual royalties from it & signed up Firminech so there is definitely interest. To me it sounds like they have stumbled across a hurdle which they have had to overcome. You are wrong though in SBTX was already a lysate with studies & Sweetbiotix was still being developed from scratch using new enzymes.

To be fair to SOH he bought technology from UOM which was already developed by them but needed to be commercialised. SOH created the pathway for it to do so. Sweetbiotix on the other hand was still being developed and not yet a confirmed technology, just a concept. The technologies are at two different stages so your comparing apples with pears.

University of Manchester have taken some profit too by the looks of things - how dare they, who on earth do they think they are. Someone should ring the decision makers there and tell them how stupid they are for selling shares right now.....

Pg hyped isn’t the same as saying as overvalued. From memory last time he said something like that was when a lot of the same people were saying Axisbiotix was going to sell 25k boxes per day or whatever silly number was being pushed. Look how that turned out. SBTX are getting 10% of an ingredient sale which means a hell of a lot of units are going to have to be sold to get a 6 figure royalty let alone millions. Zenkanine is also 1 of 1,000+ ingredients in croda portfolio. It will get there eventually but it will take time. A lot of the same people as last time are hyping this again & expect major royalties to hit immediately. Ashman is doing a good job but he is not going to meet these ridiculous expectations. SOH is probably far too familiar with this type of expectation being set by others.

Toyin that sounds like complete garbage. It’s behind a paywall for a reason and all this hysteria, accusations, drama is because it pays. As I said I know for a fact he makes stuff up or spins truths as I’ve witnessed it first hand, so if your proof is it’s on his paywall then that sums it up on this occasion too. I could name one well known director who he was quite close to but fell out with because he told inaccuracies which he refused to publicly correct. He does it all the time as it creates news.

TW makes stuff up and makes it sound like it comes from directors. I’ve seen this more than one occasion first hand with other company’s. TW never publicly apologises or corrects any inaccuracies. There’s no way Opti said their biggest asset was overvalued. They might have said good value to take some profit considering the price they paid but no way they say overvalued. Sounds like a spin of the truth to me.

I have seen it all before TW is a liar. What proof do you have other than his word?

There’s a lot of fools on this board if they think SOH told Tom W SBTX is overvalued. No way would he do that. Tom W is making up his own facts to create news and you are sucking it up. He should be the one getting an earful he’s created a drama and stupid rumours at both company’s - at least it makes good news for him! I’ve known numerous directors who have called TW out for complete untruths, you can bet your bottom dollar he never apologised or offered the truth afterwards on any occasions. The man’s just selling drama at all of our expense.

there’s actually a lot that has improved recently with slimbiome in particular opening up big opportunities with big company’s. we also had a very positive q1 sales, 2024 back to growth and looking like it’s carrying through & picking up for 2025.

i’ve said before it’s all just rubbish. sbtx holders who most likely hold a few opti are ****ed and looking for someone to blame because the big croda launch hasn’t been fireworks. tw will never win a vote and most likely won’t be able to validate all the ‘pledges’ he has to actually call an egm. opti was gaining a bit of momentum recently so all this stupidity and drama is very frustrating

I think the most simple answer is that most people would prefer a natural alternative wherever possible and avoid drugs. Slimfast, weight watchers etc are old brands that havent really added much science to their portfolios. Opti made a good point recently that consumers and their partners do not need to spend money educating consumers to this new way of losing weight (controlling hunger) now, so these drugs have changed the market which actually aligns with what Opti are doing with slimbiome. This is why Morepen, Nouri, unamed big US brand are coming aboard as its positioning fits in with how the drugs work but offers a more softer, healthier and natural approach to reduce hunger which is now on trend globally.

Who is the marketing consultant? Are we talking about the guy who was responsible for nearly half of 2024 sales? Sounds like a great cut that one.

The current logic being debated “let’s cut everyone and everything in the company and we’d be profitable”… not really how it works.

The cost base is minimal as it is and cost control has been pretty decent over the years here so it’s all just a load of rubbish if you ask me. TW clearly has a gripe with the chairman and this is all just a distraction from what appears to be Opti turning a corner commercially. Sales are growing on track for a record year, larger customers are coming aboard launching big and the share price is reacting positively. Just ignore imo

People should look up TWs time at Rivington street to understand how ludicrous this is coming from him. Neil Davidson has a lot of experience in the food space but agree with earlier comments he’s probably not best suited for this type of smaller company. TW is just a journalist and quite a good one who gets people talking but you definitely do not want him involved in any company your invested in

Great news. First order from leading weight management player in US. All the main players are huge in US so looks a good one. Momentum building in the USA and another big brand for slimbiome. Things are looking a little different round here with maybe a bit of excitement creeping back in.

Aquis disagree - Slimfast etc are failing as they have limited functionality and no one really wants to take a shake any more to lose weight. The GLP-1 drugs work quickly but not everyone wants to take a drug that has potential for nasty side effects. Its also shown that most people on GLP-1 lose a lot of muscle and put weight back on very quickly after they stop so its not a healthy and sustainable solution. Something like SlimBiome which is natural approach with fibre and can be taken everyday to reduce appetite could be exactly where the supplement market for weight loss is heading. GLP-1 drugs have educated the consumer on how appetitive suppression is as a good way to lose weight so will be looking for something like SlimBiome. More like the beginning than the end for this type of product imo.

Most company's dont keep their sales or successes close to their chest they usually shout about how well things are going to make other potential clients want a piece of the action before they are left behind..

The share price would be in its 40's? Since December 12th 2024 to now Opti have sold around 2.2 million shares. To put that into perspective todays volume is over 5 milllion at SBTX. In the last 3 days alone SBTX volumes have been over 12m shares. If you think Opti have depressed the share price by 20p by selling just 2.2 million shares over a time span of 4 months then i really do not know what to say. There are quite a few shares knocking around at SBTX with the dilution and warrants over the years which may be worth considering instead of the obsession over Opti taking some profit on an investment of £250k.

You obviously believe SBTX is a sure bet and Opti should never sell until you do however taking profit from time to time especially such large profit tends to be good practice. If it increases then Opti still have a sizeable 8.4% stake to take profit higher if it doesn’t then they would have averaged a very decent return on investment. It is not in Optis interest to depress the price, in fact the complete opposite so it doesn’t make any sense what your saying.

Agreed, nice bit of a profit taken. I imagine some on here probably owe SOH an apology for saying he's an idiot for selling now, looks like taking some off the top near the high wasn't such a bad call after all.

I think the SBTX fall is down to no news on any commercial customers/products and also the product claims are more focussed on sleep than the really interesting science behind SkinBiotix in improving Skin. I expect it to take a while to ramp up its sales with Croda but hopefully should do well in the long run.

I have to say I was surprised at what Croda have been investigating in their additional timeframe used to ascertain the additional claims to be made. Lets be honest no one buys skin cosmetics to feel 13% happier and 11% better sleep. To also put those percentages on such a product over such a time period is in my opinion inconclusive at best. How was your sleep since two weeks ago? 11% better? 30 minutes extra deep sleep?

The older study on SkinBiotix on 129 people which focussed on hydration and skin barrier etc is where I thought these claims would be ending up which would be clear differentiation and of real interest. It sounds like Croda have designed a study with a group of its marketing team which unfortunately doesn’t come across as very scientific. This is suggested in the products name, where I actually prefer SkinBiotix to Zenkanine. Saying that, todays RNS sounded a little more interesting and scientific although a bit too technical to understand what it actually means for claims.

Looks like SOH over at Opti, for now anyway, looks to be a little more in tune with market responses to the expectations to these events. Hopefully things look more interesting as more information come through next week.

You could say that funds have been appropriated to building out multiple positions in the space, most recently PBX which was built to £1m+ sales before listing. Opti holders were given a large dividend and Opti retains good exposure to upside there even after the recent heavy dilution. New technologies such as SweetBiotix do not come cheap either with R&D etc (look at SBTX investment in Skinbiotix), likely a few £m has been spent on that alone. Sweetbiotix could be its own company and as big as if not much bigger than SBTX.

With the strategic manoeuvring you could say Opti took on too much too fast with all the activities stretching resources and losing focus which has impacted sales. The report shows the commercial focus is back and the strategies they laid out at the start of the year are building momentum with potential for serious upside. We now need to see consistent increasing growth and Q1 seems to be off to a good start. The pipeline is looking increasingly exciting, especially India and the US market which if goes well could surprise us all.

Looking at other AIM companies and what Opti have so far with minimal dilution is impressive. I would have liked Opti to have disposed as much as they could of SBTX when the mkt cap there was £100m+. SBTX is great opportunity but certainly not a sure thing like some would have you believe, anything could happen with Croda and the buy and build strategy now involves taking on debt which increases risk. SBTX is now and has been for a while a free carry to Opti, Opti taking some SBTX profit & minimising dilution whilst still having a good stake should things work out is good risk management imo.
