AI startups will kill it with generative dubbing. This company doesn't know AI regardless of their marketing. Their CTO is a QA engineer! QA don't know anything about tech lol

To me, with tarrifs, boohoo & no new ceo, this is still a sell.

Hopefully they will be forced to sell shares given their horrid performance

£350k is quite a stake

Mine is £120k stake, there's still risk in short term to price such as 10 year gilts yields not acting rationally by going up and tarrifs causing uncertainty for investors

But yeah the stock price is so low at net liquidation value that it more than offsets

My intrinsic value is around £1 a share

this is what i despise about this management. when it's going well, they pump out updates to pump their stock & highlight in bold. when it's not, you can expect less rns's. easy for advanced traders to use this stock to their advantage given this.

also it's just mis-leading what they say.

that isn't going to happen. this company is in massive trouble when us advertisers pull back their spending next year. their ****ty margins are going to be negative again & the stock will plummet.

Management conveniently leaves out macroeconomic factors & that most of it's revenue is derived in the US.

The US will have a recession, advertisers will stop marketing & BOOM 2025 end year results will be horrific.

This is also exceedingly expensive compared relatively to Acast.

I'm specifically not buying this yet even though the market update was good because I think tarrifs will cause a recession in the US & stop US consumers spending much which will mean naked wines US segment suffers.

There is risk here

Actually maybe I spoke too soon lol, they somehow have £100m worth of whiskey on their books as £30m due to accounting rules not being mark-to-market...

Low ROIC trash company that will get screwed by tariffs.

What's everyones thoughts on tarrif effect on WJG?

My opinion is that it should cause US capital to flee to places like the UK & in to 'safe' assets which should help demand for BTR & PBSA which are very stable.

Also, the global reduced demand should push down interest rates & keep commodity prices low (keeping headline inflation low & service inflation should fall soon).

The only negative I can think of is that it potentially creates more uncertainty for instituional investors and they could hold off on investing right now. However I'd have thought this shouldn't affect BTR & PBSA as much as these are never affected by tarrifs.

I'm thinking it's a net positive though for WJG

Actually the share price should have gone up if we are talking about fundamentals.

Tarrifs (unexpectecly imo) caused 10 year gilts to plummet, commodities to plummet & is cutting growth forecasts around the world which means more likely rate cuts happen & BTR becomes more attractive again to investors.

This stock moves in strange ways lol

This is a good question, but AI isn't some magically thing that can negotiate bulk deals with hotel suppliers automatically.

Jet2 & OTB have to go to hotel suppliers & talk to them, negotiate rates etc as far as I know.

If you are a new AI company, you still have to do the exact same things & you will in 10 years too, i.e establishing the suppliers hotels & such.

I see OTB integrating AI to offer more personalized holiday package per customer & help with other stuff. Not displacing it personally.

And just to clarify, I don't see how AI can improve on this 'AI trip planner' in a meanginful way to revolutionize the way we book holidays right now (i.e through normal website search & such) personally

@lorzenzo I work in the tech area as a co-founder of an AI startup related to booking.com so I know a bit about this.

it's hard to predict but as far as I see it, the extent to which AI can help travel in this area is: 'You type in where you want to go, what your price range is or amneties you want & the agent will match you with 1 or mroe holidays to book' & then it can automatically connect to a booking platform & book it for you.

The user will still want to filter through and compare the best ones for him/her though I think.

This isn't really an improvement on the current way we do things right now though.

Right now the user searches for where they want to go on OTB, fills in their dates, capacity etc & compares the results.

AI is just a different user interface for this.

The user will always want to 'browse' holiday packages to find the best for them. I don't see AI revolutionizing this space personally.

Would I use it? Personally no, because it doesn't give me any significant time savings or improvement in how I book holidays.

I have 80k in OTB so I may be biased though

Tarrifs will hurt colefax, they manufacture in the UK & ship to the US

This isn't necessarily lower interest rates, it can be inflationary once UK does counter tarrifs. I do believe the UK will reach a deal though.
