Its all part of the dewatering strategy. Deep wells are designed to act for one purpose only and draw the water into that well, thus alleviating the water encountered within the other production wells. Depending on the type of water whether it artisisn or pooled water in the kims, then they look to pump of the excess usually into a watercourse subject to EA approval or tanker it off site. Tankering off site would not be the preferred option due to its cost.
The deep well will also act as a pressure relief well and is the way forward so the water issue encountered at Balcombe is very easily resolvable and pla s in place to mitigate this.
