RE: buys showing as sells5 Jul 2019 10:53
1- the "buy" and "sell" description on LSE.co.uk , ADVFN etc. is wrong at least a third of the time. It's because it's jsut based on the middle between the ADVERTISED ask and bid. The REAL ask and bid of genuine transactions is often well within those advertised sums, and sometimes both ask and bid of real trades on below or below that median line described above. In other words, the advertised spread is often total b0ll0cks.
2- the most (but not 100%) reliable way to see what is really a buy or a sell is to compare the SP of a trade with the SP of trades below and after. But in very very rare occasions, sometimes the bid and the ask are both at the very bottom of very top of the advertised spread...
3- so another way to see if trades (esp. big ones) are really buys and sells is to see whether the ADVERTISED bid and ask has changed or even increased / decreased afterwards. Here, big trades for an SP that was the bid did not lead to a decrease (as normally expected for a sale) but an increase of the bid and ask aftewards, which suggest there buys that MMs did everything to cover up as sells, probably to stop a stampede...
