Shazabo - thanks for pointing out that article. It makes a significant point: that Cineworld would have acquired Cineplex via a sufficiently separate entity not to suffer the full blast of damages should an appeal court rule against Cineworld.
And a (mildly) supportive article from the FT is HUGELY significant for stock market sentiment towards Cineworld.

1- box office figures: you totally ignore the point I was making about SEASONALLY COMPARATIVE numbers (i.e. Jan vs Jan). And unless you have US comparative figures, the UK ones are all that professional investors and traders can use to gauge commercial success.
2- The THG post that you dug up: the SP increased by approximately 6-8% after the post that dug up deep. so the short term analysis was correct. I was admittedly shown wrong in the medium term however.

If you are worried about the impact that my researched and fully backed-up claims (whether they turned out to be correct or not) make on your confidence, feel free to block me. I don't think however, that what I write has any influence on the price of companies with the market capitalisation of CINE or even THG.

I'm sorry but this is not at all how retail (and cinema / restaurants...) figures are analysed at all. It's seasonal, and thus you do not compare numbers from, say, Feb to March of the same year, but instead you compare Feb of year 1 to Feb of year 2.

Furthermore, the SP has not stayed strong at all. It's well below the 44-ish of last week.

Long term, I do not think cinema or Cineworld are dead, but the likelihood of more pain in the short term looks high unfortunately.

The general state is one of extreme volatility, caused by the combined 3rd-4th-5th degree thinking regarding the Fed's upcoming interest rises, inflation and a possible upcoming war. As close to a perfect storm as you can get really.
Better step out of the markets altogether.

Folks, I'd wait 1-3 days before topping up, the chart pattern is turning midly bearish:
- after three attempts over three days, the SP has failed to stay past the upper limit of the last gap and back well below that limit.
- morning star reversal (approx, yesterday's candle is a little thick).
- vague bearish ascending flag which is at risk of being broken as a result of the morning star.
- overbought stochastic
- MACD looking like it's running out of steam.

Don't jump the gun. The sentiment has clearly changed to bullish, but there is nowhere near enough data to make such statements.

Ephermeral - ultimately share price is all about sentiment, changes in the business info and broad economic news are only "excuses" for a shift or a confirmation of that sentiment. A shift happens only when that news is WELL ABOVE / BELOW general expectations.
The sentiment towards THG has been broadly negative, for bad and good reasons. Today's results were not different enough to change that sentiment, hence the resumption of the decrease.
GOOD AND RIGOROUS technical analysis helps chart that sentiment - but most people posting charts don't know what they are doing.
As we nearly touched, and now bounced off, the lowest level of 15 December 2021, the question is whether this share will stop going down and go back up in the long run - my suspicion is yes but we can only be reasonably confident of that after observing the movement of the SP over the next 3-4 trading days or so.

I’m afraid they aren’t really good indicators.

Check the fantastic results for PETS and WINE in Spring (?) 2020 - mega drop of the SP the day before, and obviously super rises on results day, rises which were even sustained for the following few days IIRC...
