Good morning Tommytink. YES AND NO. One uses a broker for CFD'S contracts for difference which are exactly the same as spread betting but are the actual live market price. Gains are taxable but losses available for tax relief .They are also subject to broker's commission AND PRICE SPREADS. I spread bet using IG or Interactive Investor who are brokers but provide spread betting platforms as well. Some brokers do not provide spread betting.BTW a lot of AIM shares can be bought using Interactive but they not appear on Interactive's spread betting platform but do on IG's.However trading can be restricted as AIM shares are not allowed to be shorted worse luck otherwise I would be a millionaire! Spread bets prices are not live market but are closely based on them, gains are tax free but then losses are not available for tax relief. No separate commission charge but it is built into the spread. IG's spreads are bigger than Interactive but their charting facilities are superior imo. Watch out for spreads after 9 p.m. and up to 8.am. They widen quite significantly. aAlso try not to be in a trade at the time of major news events eg interest rate announcements and non farm payrolls the latter every first friday of the month at 13.30 as price is subject to wide spikes sometimes in both directions very very quickly. wELL OFF to a good start just had to do you uknowwatimeanharry as single and got him with harry's other tips in treble and doubles and surprised myself as also had hoofalong which i had done before spotting cathy's sole ride. only had a pound on him and not in any doubles. Was tempted to cash in as was not watching race only the cash in. Did cash in cathy's as it was close to the total win and had my usual 10 win paid £33.must have been neck and neck. Ballyandy great race got 3/1 also and 100/30 the other winner nice double thanks Harry but still waiting for that elusive winning treble despite four other winners at 14/1, out sam 3/1, violet dancer 8/1 and noble deed 8/1 all singles on the hoof. Gave a lot back on that pesky 3.35, did all first 7 in the betting based on those statistics except the damn winner but up overall on the day.
