Profit from favourites on the All Weather
Dear Lefkosia,
A couple of weeks ago I promised you guest articles from some new and interesting sources and when I promise something, I deliver.
The first such article comes from David Peat who has been digging up some interesting, and potentially very profitable, All Weather statistics.
Enjoy.
Matt Houghton
I have always been interested in Maiden races but have never really had a successful angle, however after reading somewhere about the exploits of Luca Cumani in this sphere (both flat and AW) when his horse went off as favourite, I wondered if there were any other profitable trainers under these circumstances.
Using HorseRaceBase I set the following criteria:
• 2012 onwards
• Maiden races only
• Favourite (not joint or co fav)
• All Weather races only
The table below shows the results for this query…
I have taken out non profitable trainers or those with less than eight winners.
(You can click on all of the tables to make them bigger)
You could simply back the above trainers blindly when their horse started favourite in a maiden race and you would have the following results:
However, I thought I would have a closer look at each trainer to see if they had any other profitable angles we could utilise.
TOMMY STACK
The only angle I could find, as he does so well with his favourites running at Dundalk, is horses ridden by WM Lordan.
RAE GUEST
The trainer does well following one simple rule in that his horses must have had between one and three runs in the last 90 days.
RMW COWELL
The trainer does especially well with his runners at Chelmsford and Wolverhampton.
AP O'BRIEN
The trainer does well with his horses running at 6f to 1m2.5f that have had between zero and two runs in the last 90 days. The horse last time out should have had no run or finished 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th or 6th.
R HANNON JNR
The trainer does well at three tracks: Chelmsford, Lingfield and Wolverhampton, with horses running at 6f to 1m2f.
LM CUMANI
The trainer does well at Lingfield and Kempton with horses running at 6f to 1m3f. The horse must have had between one and three runs in the last 90 days.
SIR M STOUTE
The trainer does well at Lingfield, Kempton and Chelmsford with horses racing at 6f to 1m2f. The horse last time out should have had no run or finished 2nd, 3rd or 4th.
EAL DUNLOP
The trainer does well at Kempton and Lingfield with runners that have had between zero and three runs in the last 90 days.
KA RYAN
The trainer does well at Southwell and Wolverhampton with horse that have raced zero to two times in the last 90 days and last time out had either no run or finished 2nd or 3rd.
Best wishes,
David Peat
