MADRID (Thomson Financial) - Red Electrica de Espana SA said its net profit for the nine months to September rose to 191.3 mln eur from 159.6 mln the same time last year, slightly higher than analyst forecasts for 186-190 mln eur. REE said revenues grew to 761.4 mln from 708.3 mln a year ago, at the top-end of analyst forecasts for 758-761 mln eur. EBITDA rose to 545.8 mln eur from 495.9 mln a year earlier, it said.
I think what maybe happening is that large volumes are switching between BB and AL almost on a daily basis...causing a swing in each of up to 6%; I posted a note on BB which suggested a switch to BB in the last couple of days...now it maybe switching back to AL.

LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Hargreave Hale Ltd said it has bought a total of 3,975 shares in two tranches in Broker Network Holdings PLC at 475 pence each, and now holds 1.08 mln shares, or 7.02 pct, in the company. Yesterday, Broker Network rejected an offer approach as the terms and conditions of that approach were unacceptable. The company said discussions continue and a further proposal may or may not be made. LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Home Retail Group PLC (HRG), the Argos high street catalogue and Homebase DIY retailer, reported a 40 pct increase in first half earnings as both divisions achieved growth in spite of "difficult" market conditions. For the 26 weeks to Sept 1, Home Retail made an underlying pretax profit of 149.8 mln stg, up from a pro forma figure of 107.2 mln stg for the previous year.

it has been trading at a loss on thin air turnover...but like you I never expected it to move so far...the MM's locked in the buyers with a wide spread this morning, I thought that it was going to a pump and dump job...but as appears (as in the case of Umbro...up 60% since buy out rumours) I got it wrong...I must be more trusting of the reaction to good news...strange feature however is the sp didnt move much for more than 40 minutes at the open, no doubt whilst the analyists did their sums.
