Directors of companies with shares quoted on a stock exchange are obliged not only to disclose details of their dealings, but also to observe restrictions on when they can buy and sell shares in their company. Don't forget we have been in a closed period in the lead up to interim financial results released today.

sandgrounded - if you are implying that GH has been selling and that is the reason for the decline, then think again. Any sales by a Director (and he is still with GGP) have to be followed by an RNS.

Even if there are no drilling results from Newcrest this week there is a good chance we will see Greatland's own 6-monthly interim financial results and it will be instructive to hear SD's views on the period ahead as well as the financial results released. Will he do a "Look Andrew.." type of interview I wonder or perhaps wait until the drill results are out. An interesting week coming up.

Greb - No to your question about SD buying prior to results.

"As a result of the implementation of Market Abuse Regulations in 2016, AIM Rule 21 was replaced by a requirement for AIM-listed companies to implement a share dealing policy which complies with a set of minimum requirements. The definition of a closed period was also amended to be the 30 days prior to the release of financial results. The restrictions on dealing while in possession of unpublished price sensitive information remain".

My son, Door4left, has just pointed out that interim results are expected next week. Last year they were on 9 March and just had a look back at them - they make interesting reading and demonstrate just how far GGP have come in just 12 months when we had only received 5 sets of excellent results. On Wednesday evening next week we are expecting to be heading for 14/14. This will be SD's first set of financial results and no doubt has been a joint effort with GH though SD will take responsibility. I guess we have been in a close period which may have prevented SD buying before now. Busy week coming up folks. Strap yourselves in. Some extracts from last year's interims :

Hannam only ascribe $100m (£75m) to GGP's other projects in the Paterson region - just 2p a share. Significant upside on these projects.

corradus - I quite agree with your comments that 5% FMV could be substantial. It will be interesting to see how they finally agree on what constitutes FMV. Even if they only settle on 10m ounces at Havieron, 5% would be 500,000 ounces. Assume say $1,800 per ounce market price with profit say $800 an ounce we could be looking at GGP receiving $400m, say £300m. Just my musings and it will be fascinating to hear how they ultimately settle.

Besides the one off windfall Havieron will be a cash cow for many years to come with only minor offsetting running costs as my previous post discussed. As you say all looking very positive.

Hi corradus - the 5% FMV will come by way of a one off cash injection in one year whereas I was looking at it purely from a profit per year over a 30 year period starting when GGP actually starts mining.

08.01 Bamps - I hope you don't mind but I have had a go at turning your gold figures into what it might mean financially to GGP over the lifetime of the mine. I think 30 years mine life has been talked about quite a lot so I have used that for now.

Bamps Conclusion:
@0.75g/t = 15.3m oz (most likely)
@1g/t = 23.5m oz
plus 11m gold equivalent ounces
plus any cobalt gold equivalent maybe 3m oz

So taking the likely 30m ounces over 30 years mine life gives 1 million ounces per year.
GGP share 25% = 250,000 ounces per year on average (there will be fluctuations so just averaged for this purpose)
GGP profit per ounce - say £600 (again there will gold price fluctuations over the mine life, so just using an average here)
GGP profit per year (600 x 250,000) = £150m
Assume 4.2 bn shares conservative average (actually year by year these could reduce as the cash comes in and GGP buyback shares - or they could make a series of cash distributions)
Earnings per share - say 3.5p after tax
Using a conservative PE ratio of 15 = target share price of 52.5p (could argue for a PE of 20-30 given the visibility of earnings over a 30 year period).

This is just for Havieron - all the rest comes in for free. Lovely free cashflow as well offers plenty of scope for acquisitions, share buybacks, distributions etc. You can play around with other scenarios. But this is how I justify the investment to myself.

And I have tried to be conservative just as Bamps' figures were. Thank you Bamps once again for making me think hard about why I am invested here.
