I would be very frustrated if I had waited until today to sell. Bought a final tranche now with the cash I will be getting later this month, 26th from memory. Happy to just average below 230 and of course a nice dividend later in the year. Good luck to all private investors whether you hold or sell or waiting until Monday. Just popped a nice bottle of Merlot in the shopping trolley for the current Mrs leas to enjoy over the weekend. May just call into my local filling station on the way home to pick up some flowers. :)

Spindler it does also depend on your average price. It is the traders that will be taking the risk. The investor buying last year when the sp was in the low 200s have the breathing space to make an informed decision next week. Buying in the last few weeks has always been a gamble.

alf that's not really the full picture. It may test the lows post XD and equally it may test £3. Pension costs will be reduced, interest on loans reduced. Online capacity increased significantly over the pandemic. The consolidation is immaterial as the reduced number of shares reflects the dividend payment. Arguably for many investors not a good strategy due to the tax implications. Reduced liquidity of the shares will benefit the company and it's shareholders as the yield from profits will be divided up into a lower number of shares. EPS will also be much better. Of course there may be wider influences that affect the sp direction in the coming months, the markets generally across the globe are at record highs when we are in the midst of a pandemic. So lots of potential 'banana skins' but as the restrictions have highlighted, we all need to eat and TSCO is well placed as a defensive investment. I know the SD has caused much confusion but I don't think any investor thought that the 51p was really a giveaway.
Cannot understand why Schroders would seek to reduce here but hold over at TSCO. First of all, they are getting a poor price for their shares which will only reduce if their decision to sell forced them out of the ftse 100. Struggling to find weakness other than trying to keep up to speed with online deliveries. Costs for making their stores Covid safe is balanced with increased footfall with restrictions. Reminds me of PETS a couple of years ago when the sp was around 120p. No logic.
Despite the very big distraction over the next few days, TSCO should benefit from the increased footfall with Valentines. Their dine in for two meals have had great reviews that should pull in the punters. I will plan in advance and treat the current Mrs leas tomorrow and avoid the Fred Karno's that will unfold at the big four over the weekend.
Jim difficult to make comparisons. Some did it with VOD yet the fundamentals were different not to mention a totally different sector. RBS did a share consolidation as the sp was dropping almost to the penny share category. Not only that, it was an embarrassment to the BoDs so it gave them a little credibility. If they didn't have a consolidation then during this pandemic the sp would have been 9p. TSCO are not a distressed company.
RE: No better No worse with Special Dividend-so why do it??10 Feb 2021 18:19
EPS improved too with less shares in circulation. Just a thought in relation to institutions. Schroders are moving out of MRW but there has been no holdings RNS from TSCO. You can only assume they are content with their investment here. Surely, if this SD was unfavourable to them you would have expected the opposite. Especially when MRW have slightly increased market share.
Spindler Personally I am looking beyond SD. My average is 225 and happy to have a cushion that protects my capital. If the sp dipped below 240 then I would be tempted to average up. However, above that then my cushion is not as ‘plump’ It does not mean I don’t expect the sp to rise above 250, in fact I can see it getting closer to the broker targets. Each to their own and of course their own personal circumstances.
Bertie All the very best. I was waiting fir the sp to fall back to the 10s before buying. Thankfully the RNS dropped so it saved me having to make the decision. I actually thought the delay was down to a NDC for a discussion on a takeover but not agreeing the trial design was not expected. Fwiw, I do think Lupuzor will come to the market. The safety record and crossover possibilities are too compelling to be ignored. The gamble is who holds the rights to profit from it. By the way, contrary to some posters view, IMM is not a one trick pony. However, they have to start realising shareholders need to be recognised and not being thought of as a distraction from the science. I have followed the journey of this company since 2007 and it has served me well but the focus has to be shifted away from the arrogance and egos of a select few board members.
‘bad calls’ you mean buii5it. 10 Bob millionaire. Pump AIM in the hope that fellow gamblers boost their own investments. I called her out last week for publishing the size of her holdings. Clearly fabricated. I very much doubt many would have been seduced if her bb name was Bob.
2m trade at 246.1 logged as a sell. Again on or close to the day’s high. Pi’s being played. Kicking myself for not adding more last Friday waiting for it to go sun 240. I’m sure a few here are still undecided what to do as the window closes for the XSD but whatever you decide wish you all the very best with your decision.
Dallo Totally agree but the sp swung towards the risk rather than the reward range. I think it will drift lower until the trial design is agreed. Only guessing that the price will return to yesterday’s range if and when positive news arrives.

Liam she did say 2 million and was going to buy more. However, when I looked at the trades it would never support her buying claim. Surprised not to see any posts from her as she was very positive and thought the SPA was nailed on. No doubt surface under another bb name. They cannot resist reinventing themselves.

halfbutt Feeling your pain. I know you were balls deep here. I’m sure you will make up for your loss elsewhere. Surprised eva has not made an appearance and hope she gives you the heads up if she decides to sell.
