In the words of Kevin Keegan..4 Mar 2018 21:37
The Alstom deal is important ...because depending on what you read or who you believe its quite a maligned deal...
The CEO says they bought a cash generative business that would of taken 50 years to build..
HOWEVER the hedgie shareholders claim it's the reason G.E slashed their dividend by 50% buying a fossil fuel-centric tech manufacturer at a time most of the world is looking for greener solutions...
The Pakistan THAR project is a perfect example of G.E supplying that exact same tech to CMEC but G.E are ONLY suppliers to that project...
Tete project is hella different as G.E are looking for an equity stake in our project but takeover bants aside .. they CAN dump a shitload of Alstoms gear into our lil ole PP...particularly as we ramp up from 300 to 1500...
(Imagine , after a profits warning , explaining to those same hedgies that you walked away from a deal that could of made the Alstom deal a bit more swallowable?)..
There is a clear need to find homes for this gear..
Note our heel turn on CFB plans?...
Ok regards the big TO...We have 40% but G.E/CMEC have clear options to take more than that as per RNS....of a project that G.E will fund, build and operate...c'mon?
Hmmm...so say they take another 20% and leave us with 20% we will be left with about £18m PA when PP is profitable in years to come..
What's the point?..
Do we think Hanno ect will still want to be hanging around Tete that long?..
I personally think the less we are left with, the MORE we are in the way..
The final play (regardless of our involvement) will be, imo , is G.E will build ,operate and establish then themselves SELL it to black owned private equity as per the BEE initiative currently in play across Africa....NAI/DYOR/GLA x
