RE: Vitamin D20 May 2020 21:19
I believe the English plague took place in what's known as the little ice age where winter were far colder than experienced today and all the animals rats included would seek out the warmth from fires, I also read that the bacterium, Yersinia pestis which the fleas carried from the rats, below a certain air temperature block the fleas stomach causing it to regurgitate . So if it had been feasting on an infected hosted the blood remained partially digested in the fleas stomach so when it bit another uninfected host it had to be sick thus allowing the ingested infected blood to pass into the bloodstream of the newly bitten victim via the bite. So summers warmer conditions allowed the flea to digest the blood thus lowering infections . Of course in London and the bulk of the country in the summer of 1666 (despite the Little Ice Age) it was exceptionally warm with a long sustained drought with laid the conditions for the great fire of London that really cleaned out filthy straw dwelling conditions where the fleas lived . Of course the bacterium, Yersinia pestis wasn't a virus which is a totally different odd thing. What they do have in common though is that the two great bubonic plagues and Covid 19 all came from China and its there in the wet markets that humans are introduced to all sorts of rare and exotic animals like bat wellington. Sadly my chinese next door neighbours had waffles for breakfast yesterday. The bastards .....I loved that cat.
