RE: Surely to God a Brexit deal cannot fail now......!17 Dec 2020 21:14
I still believe it is going to happen prior to the end of year Fun. MP's broke for Xmas today but were told yesterday that they may be called back on Monday / Tuesday next week. Jacob Rees Mogg indicated 6 days required our side that can be squeezed to finalise it all through Parliament and the Lords. EU on the other side have been stating that Sunday is their deadline for it all to be agreed to allow it to be scrutinised and passed.
Tonight was a phone call between Boris to UVL to try and break the impasse and posturing again in my view with Micheal Gove pushed out there prior today to state publicly that there is less than 50% chance of a deal.
There is more chance of a favourable outcome if you run the clock down and the other side believe you are prepared to walk away, which is how Boris is portraying things. Remember that the EU economy is in a right mess after Covid, there is a financial gap to plug without the UK's contributions and if they don't pull their finger out it will be chips with your chips in the fish and chip shops in Europe as theyw ill struggle to get Cod, haddock and other choices into the deep fat fryers. Macron positive with Covid19 tonight is also a stark reminder.
It is in neither the EU or UK's interests for a No deal. I expect a trade deal and along similar lines to Norway with access to the market in return for access to fishing grounds.
Don't let me deter your 3/1 bet though if you think the odds are good.
