The reason it did was simply due to the weak £.

Cable just hit lows of 1.2956 and any weakness in the £ I guess means a strong rise in the FTSE as most companies' profits for FTSE 100 is made in dollars presently.

So, if sterling weakens then dollar revenues, once they're converted back into sterling, are worth more, right?

Cable is being pounded by the strong $.....esp past 24 hrs....so double whammy.....

Futures just hit 9548.

They've got most traders now bullish and suffering from FOMO so though might not happen today, Im hoping that coupled iwth the $40 billion QT which has to take place by end of this month, indices are going to get it....;)

The unfortunate fact is though with CB intervention ie BoJ in this case, manipulation wins evey time. BoJ back off and then reality will hit the markets.....#AirPocketTime

Gold just hit $1211......China really out to get US since last night. And dollar cents away from 3rd attempt at breaking resis.

PS I dont trade e'thing i post abt.....I just try to keep up with e'thing and anything now as they also seem to have some kind of r'ship/influence.....Does become IO sometimes though and smoke has been known to be seen escaping frequently from my tincy little brain...heehee!! :)

So, the bottom 282 SPX500 companies are equiv to the Top 5 SPX500 companies (two thirds of which constitute FAAANG) wrt mcap!!

Though (a) and (b) were the primary governing factors previously, yuan devaluation is the main contributor and is hammering gold....

It's simple. US v China and China wont stop yuan devaluation to punish US in retaliation for the tariffs. Until that stops, kiss poor gold bye bye....China is already showing signs of slowdown so goodness knows what will happen next month when the majority begin to kick in.....

Yuan devaluation is hurting Trump/US.....with a focus on the indices.....

Dollar dropping will help but currency war needs to stop for gold to have any chance of a longer term recovery.........imo....

Was too tired/busy to notice yuan's O/N devaluation this morn and just taking stock now prior to US open.....and having consumed lots of sucrose....back to normal;)

I'll be watching dollar next 2 sessions now to see if it third time lucky at breaking resis. or (hopefully) back down....in a much heavier way.....Fingers crossed ;)

To follow gold currently there's only 3 factors you need to monitor:
a) Dollar
b) UdJpy
c) UsdCnh

Take a look at UsdCnh currently; up 503 points and that's just since 11pm last night. That's why gold has lost $15 o/n and just hit $1214. It's been going on for weeks now and almost every single day

$1190s on the horizon at this rate...

Dollar almost at resistance....what happens there has serious consequences for gold, oil and the indices. End of.....

Treacle, in short: bitcoin despite a 10% rise 2 days ago is heading from my understanding to abt 3-500 imminently and then to the moon. No kidding! Well, upwards but I wont say more than that.....

The rest of the cryptos imho...stay away.....! They will mostly have vanished within months....along with pi's hard earned £££.......AIMHO

Treacle, I wldnt be overly concerned on shorters/shorting. Pis on these forums base far too much empahsis on shorting and it has less influence than many wld think.

Main points are what the the main, larger insitutions are doing .....and as a majority. That's what affects shares and also the different instruments ive learnt. Retailers have very very very little impact.....much less than what we think:)

HOC has always been a great share for me. I did get into it many times and it did rise. But then I saw that gold was going to drop when I turned bearish and warned other on here HOC wld also be affected... stopped trading HOC though chartists claimed it was heading to £3-4+ etc...not so...;)

But then HOC is predominantly silver.....like FRES..........and silver can react very differently to gold....

Platinum is by far a better precursor to gold than silver if it helps for the future...:)

Hmmmm......based on past exp of gold, my thinking is that most are now turning bearish on Gold and that's when the markets kill off the remaining weak longs and abruptly reverse...

Wldnt be surprised if we see one final drop in the next week as a neagative spike before they take gold back up albeit short term.....wld be a good level for a quick trade ...AIMHO...

Dollar has almost hit resistance also so once that shows any kind of sustained weakening, then it may be 'Hello Gold'....for a wee while in any case.....let's see... :)
