China fines contractor with Portuguese-speaking presence due to poor quality material

The government of Zhejiang Province, in eastern China, fined the China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC), a state-owned contractor with presence in Angola, Brazil and East Timor, for using poor quality material and equipment.
In a statement, the Municipal Transport Bureau of Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang, announced a fine of 338,800 yuan (over 46,130 euros) linked to the rehabilitation
The CRCC is building the new Port of Beaço, which will be part of the new natural gas processing unit coming from the Greater Sunrise project, in southern Timor-Leste, and valued at US$943 million (917.8 million dollars).
The contractor is also part of a consortium, formed by Chinese state-owned companies, which won an auction in 2019 to build and operate what will be the second largest bridge in Brazil, in the state of Bahia (northeast).
