Property prices have been "dripping" for a while now Doggpoo, how much further do you think they'll go? Some analysts are saying two years of price drops, I'm not convinced.

No worries strictly, many of us read across TW, PSN, BDEV etc. (mainly to read your posts, to be fair...) so I'm aware of the guff you refer to. I'm afraid it's inevitable from time to time on these boards, people have such different agendas some of which I have to say are totally beyond me.

Anyway, I hope you're right about this whole cladding saga coming to a conclusion, and it would be good to move on from the leasehold debacle too - not great adverts for the trades I'm afraid. As if things aren't difficult enough for the major developers currently.

Despite all of the above, and surely a sign of better times ahead re interest rates, inflation etc., it's nice to see TW trading above £1.20 for the first time in a while. Gove picking on the easy targets for a second time, too cowardly to take on the true culprits re Grenfell - the French cladding supplier and the government department responsible for authorising the legislation. IMHO.

Given the choice of a special dividend or paying the debt down I would choose the latter, I see this as a long-term investment and the sooner they can pay it down the better from my perspective. If it saves the sale of a vessel then all well & good.

I really should have kept the faith shouldn't I?? Luckily the market never seems to see the true value here so I might be able to buy back the shares I sold with minimal damage.
Another fantastic update: charter rates higher than expected; profit ahead of my expectations; dividend held, covered x 4. I think Grindrod has been loaded up with debt though, so perhaps more vessel disposals to come than would be ideal going forward or it's going to take longer than planned to reduce debt.
Re the Grindrod name, I wonder if it's more fundamental than that. I've been involved in takeovers where the management have sold it as a "reverse takeover", only to discover that the new management had no such ideas. It makes you wonder if the Grindrod management team (like some of their shareholders, apparently) still haven't got their heads around being part of TMIP. It'll be a big challenge for management, whether they continue with Grindrod as (effectively) a separate business or fully integrated (which I would definitely favour, because of the scope for more synergy & therefore cost savings).
One final thought. The dividend is covered x 4 & the management plan a 10-12% NAV return p.a. to shareholders in the medium term. Last year we had a special dividend...??

Yes it's the full-year forecasts I'm more interested in than the final quarter, plus the forward-looking statements/outlook for 2023 and beyond. It may still be too soon for them to make firm projections for the enlarged company but let's see. The signs are a little more hopeful re the Handysize index, given how far and how fast it's dropped you'd hope it hasn't got much further (if at all) to fall. Things improved dramatically after Chinese New Year last year, let's hope we get Ed's thoughts on whether we might see something similar this time around. Fingers crossed.

lti not sure about that, I may be wrong but I seem to think it went to about £23 before the dotcom bubble burst in the late 90's. I could have sold then & paid off my mortgage at the time but held on for more. Worst decision of my life, I've regretted it ever since.

Yes indeed, minus the latest dividend of course. Still should be more than enough to cover this latest acquisition though. Plenty more opportunities in the pipeline though, so I'm sure it's only a matter of time before they're asking shareholders for more funds. Having sold some last year, I'll be ready when they do. It's becoming harder & harder to find consistent dividend payers with relatively low risk (see DLG, RLE, TGA & VSL for recent examples of how it can all go wrong) so GSF looks better and better by comparison.

News due tomorrow, I think we'll know a lot more about the direction of travel once we've had chance to digest the update. Be interesting to see if they comment on the likelihood of meeting or beating year-end forecasts, and the impact that the Grindrod acquisition is beginning to have. Interesting times, will be a bright & early start tomorrow morning! First time I've been nervous about an update from TMIP, hope they don't disappoint. GLA.

NAV now 1,649p per share. Action EBITDA 46% ahead of 2021. Think you might be waiting a while for your 30% premium SD235.

I'm hoping that this share will start to earn a decent dividend from next year. If 3i intends to retain its holding in Action at the current level, it needs to start sharing more of the earnings with its shareholders.
